The role of Leasing Consultant at R.W. Selby & Co. involves a dynamic combination of marketing, leasing, and property maintenance responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation and appeal of apartment units. This full-time hourly position offers competitive compensation ranging from $23.00 to $26.00 per hour based on experience and includes an extensive benefits package designed to support the employee’s health, financial security, and work-life balance. The Leasing Consultant serves as the primary point of contact for prospective residents and current tenants, acting as a frontline ambassador who fosters positive community relations and ensures timely and accurate management of resident files and leasing documentation.

Key responsibilities include conducting property tours, maintaining rent-ready units, processing rental applications and agreements, handling rent collections, and enforcing community rules. The role requires excellent communication skills, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and a proactive attitude towards sales and negotiation. Additionally, knowledge of the local market is preferred but not mandatory. This position reports directly to the Property Manager, and ideal candidates are motivated individuals eager to contribute to a successful team environment while embodying the company’s standards of excellence such as maintaining a clean and inviting property, meeting or exceeding net operating income goals, and following established operational processes.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in leasing or customer service preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record keeping
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Job Duties

  • Walking tour routes to make sure they are clean and tour-ready daily
  • Inspecting vacant units and models to make sure they are market-ready daily
  • Showing and selling available units
  • Accepting deposits
  • Completing resident applications and rental agreements
  • Completing lease packages timely, accurately, and within RWSC guidelines
  • Collecting rents
  • Serving late rent notices
  • Serving legal notices regarding rent increases and covenant problems
  • Computer entry of accounting information
  • Answering office telephones and providing practical assistance
  • Maintaining excellent resident relations
  • Enforcing community rules
