The Senior Lab Operations Manager role is crucial at Google DeepMind, acting as the central figure in the daily management and optimization of the lab ecosystem. Job Duties
- own the daily rhythm of the lab with an eye on increasing research velocity
- manage space allocation, equipment scheduling, and workflow optimization to ensure no engineer or technician is ever blocked
- be the metric-owner for floor productivity tracking and optimizing key performance indicators such as lab uptime, station utilization, and mean time to repair
- instill rigorous 5S and lean methodologies in the research and development lab environment
- take feedback from operations to other teams to develop clear next steps
- build a culture of safety-first high performance and ensure agreed safety protocols are implemented
- coordinate internal engineering goals with external vendor execution
