This commitment to employee satisfaction contributes to its sustained growth and success in the competitive consulting landscape.

The Senior Industrial Wastewater Engineer role is a pivotal position within Terracon’s Environmental Service Line, providing technical leadership on complex industrial water and wastewater treatment projects. This role is available on a nationwide scale with flexible work arrangements, including remote or hybrid options, accommodating diverse employee needs and promoting work-life balance.

The successful candidate will leverage extensive expertise in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering to lead and support project teams in the planning, design, and optimization of industrial wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment systems. This includes but is not limited to industrial wastewater treatment, reclaimed and potable water systems, groundwater and surface water treatment, and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) systems. A critical aspect of the role is managing technical design efforts, overseeing bench-scale and pilot-scale treatability studies, and providing ongoing troubleshooting and optimization support to operating treatment plants.

With responsibilities encompassing project delivery from design through construction phases, the Senior Industrial Wastewater Engineer will manage equipment selection, procurement, and vendor coordination while leading the development and review of essential technical documents such as process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, facility layouts, and operations manuals. Budgeting, scheduling, and scope management are integral components of the position, ensuring projects meet quality, safety, and risk management standards.

Collaboration and mentorship are also key elements of this role, with expectations to guide junior engineers and technical staff and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Terracon’s offices. The Senior Engineer will foster multi-office technical teams, promote integrated project delivery, and engage actively with clients and stakeholders to maintain strong industrial market relationships spanning energy, chemicals, power, food, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, mining, solid waste, technology, advanced manufacturing, and emerging contaminants like PFAS.

The role provides the opportunity to contribute significantly to business development initiatives, including proposal preparation, scope development, and client relationship management, thereby supporting Terracon’s vision of delivering innovative and sustainable environmental engineering solutions. This position is vital to Terracon’s mission of helping clients succeed while ensuring communities thrive through sustainable environmental practices and advanced technical expertise.
