Job Description
Banner Health is a leading healthcare organization recognized for providing exceptional medical services and fostering a supportive work environment. As a certified Great Place To Work, Banner Health places a high priority on its team members by offering rewarding career opportunities, comprehensive training, and a commitment to excellence. Located in Chandler, Arizona, Banner Health serves the local community with a range of healthcare services, supporting both patients and healthcare professionals alike. The company is known for its dedication to patient care, operational excellence, and employee satisfaction, making it an excellent place for professionals interested in building a meaningful and impactful career in healthcare.
The Senior Environmental Services Associate position at Banner Health is a full-time opportunity designed for individuals passionate about maintaining safe, clean, and organized healthcare environments. Working an evening shift from 1 pm to 9:30 pm with weekends required, this role offers a flat-rate weekend shift differential and is eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus upon meeting specified criteria. This role plays a crucial part in hospital operations by ensuring that all clinical and public areas meet the highest cleaning and infection control standards.
In this role, associates will perform a variety of housekeeping duties including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing. They will use a range of power cleaning equipment to handle heavy cleaning tasks such as carpet cleaning and floor resurfacing. A key responsibility involves promptly responding to cleaning service requests using computerized and paper-based tracking systems, providing excellent customer service to patients, staff, visitors, and healthcare providers.
The Senior Environmental Services Associate also has leadership responsibilities, assisting in training new team members and serving as a role model for safe practices and infection control procedures. Given the critical nature of healthcare environments, associates focus on maintaining stringent infection control standards, especially in sensitive areas such as surgical suites and isolation rooms. This includes specialized gowning and cleaning protocols that prevent the spread of infections.
This position requires the ability to multi-task and respond effectively to changing priorities, often working in collaboration with supervisors and other facilities staff to resolve safety or cleanliness issues. It also requires maintaining cleanliness and operational functionality of cleaning equipment, performing scheduled floor care tasks including stripping, refinishing, and carpet extraction, and maintaining detailed logs for infection control and task completion.
The position is ideal for candidates with one to two years of healthcare or institutional cleaning experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate typical industrial cleaning tools. Banner Health offers a drug-free work environment and values diversity, including support for disabled veterans. Employees working in specific Banner Health facilities must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, emphasizing the organization's commitment to safety and compliance.
This role provides an excellent career path for those looking to grow within healthcare environmental services, offering a stable work schedule, financial incentives, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient and staff wellbeing through maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
