Job Description
Sonesta International Hotels is the 8th largest hotel company in the United States and continues to expand rapidly. The company boasts a broad and diverse portfolio of over 1000 owned, managed, and franchised properties situated in major cities across eight countries. Sonesta’s unique blend of full-service and focused hotels offers guests an exceptional hospitality experience characterized by personalized service, passionate engagement, and a commitment to loyalty with purpose. At Sonesta, the emphasis on the human side of hospitality enables the company to deliver memorable experiences that resonate deeply with guests, ensuring satisfaction and fostering strong connections.
Sonesta International Hotels prides itself on bringing quality, value, and outstanding hospitality to each and every guest and stay. The company’s ethos, "Together We Thrive," reflects its dedication to collaborative success and continuous growth within the hospitality industry. Its extensive network of properties provides a dynamic and stimulating environment for both guests and employees alike.
The Group Sales Manager role at Sonesta is a pivotal position within the sales and marketing team, reporting directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing. This full-time position plays a critical role in driving hotel revenue by actively soliciting and managing accounts within assigned market segments. The Group Sales Manager is tasked with prospecting for new business, nurturing existing client relationships, and closing sales to meet and exceed revenue goals. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of hotel operations, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
The Group Sales Manager will be involved in various aspects of the sales process, including telephone solicitation, conducting outside sales calls, arranging site inspections, and effectively communicating through written correspondence. Additionally, understanding and adhering to Sonesta’s sales policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) ensures consistency and compliance across all sales activities. Preparing and executing sales contracts, creating comprehensive group resumes to guarantee product quality and customer satisfaction, and following up on sales leads are essential components of the role.
This position also demands continuous market analysis by monitoring top accounts and identifying trends to maximize revenue opportunities. The Group Sales Manager must maintain an active sales solicitation program and achieve specific call and revenue goals as set by the Director of Sales and Marketing. Engaging clients through hotel entertainment events, tours, and site inspections promotes strong client relationships and enhances Sonesta’s brand reputation. Additionally, the Group Sales Manager will assist in implementing promotional activities that support direct sales segments, thereby reinforcing the hotel's market presence.
The role requires physical activity such as standing or moving throughout the facility, and occasionally carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds. It necessitates proficiency in utilizing computer software for sales and reporting purposes, strong verbal and written communication abilities in English, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate must also possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to industry workshops, trade shows, and conventions. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Sonesta not only prioritizes business success but also takes great care of its employees by offering a competitive benefits package that addresses health and financial security. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance, health savings accounts with company matching, a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match, paid vacation and sick days, hotel discounts, educational assistance, paid parental leave, company-paid life insurance, and short and long-term disability insurance. Additional employee perks, along with specialized insurance options like hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident insurance, further demonstrate Sonesta's commitment to supporting its workforce.
Sonesta International Hotels is an equal opportunity employer. The company welcomes qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristics protected by law. Prospective candidates are encouraged to complete their full applications, including attaching a resume, to be considered for employment. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
