The Senior Global Corporate Travel Specialist at UL Solutions reports to the Manager of Global Travel, Meeting, and Event Operations and plays a crucial role in leading all aspects of the multinational corporate travel program encompassing both domestic and international travel. This full-time, hybrid position (three days in-office) is based at their offices in Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL. The Senior Global Corporate Travel Specialist is tasked with driving the strategic development and operational management of travel programs, ensuring alignment with the company’s core objectives such as traveler safety, cost containment, and regulatory compliance.

This role demands a proactive leader adept in collaborating with diverse global teams, including global security, finance, sustainability, and business continuity departments, as well as supporting the Meeting and Event Operations function (SMMP). The specialist leads initiative development by conducting thorough analyses of travel KPIs, presenting critical data to the executive team and key stakeholders to inform decisions. They are responsible for evaluating global travel opportunities, directing operational effectiveness, and ensuring compliance within the organization’s travel policies. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of local travel customs, regulations, GDPR, customs, and currency matters for various countries. Interaction with Travel Management Companies and preferred travel partners is a key component, aimed at optimizing the travel program and swiftly resolving any issues. The Senior Global Corporate Travel Specialist also oversees ongoing vendor performance monitoring, contract compliance audits, and adjustments to booking tools like Concur or Cytric, guaranteeing a seamless travel experience for all employees.

In addition to maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and future program strategies, the role involves managing audits and incorporating traveler and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve travel processes. A strong compliance focus is essential, including adherence to the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and all physical and digital security practices. This position offers an estimated salary range of $85,000 to $110,000, supplemented by annual bonus potential at a 10% target payout. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 5+ years of corporate travel management experience on a global scale
  • Knowledge of international travel regulations GDPR customs and currencies
  • Excellent communication oral and written and negotiation skills
  • Well-organized and reliable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical-thinker and problem-solver with proactive mindset
  • Experience in negotiating supplier contracts related to air car and hotel categories
  • Experience to lead significant travel-related projects including new business and system implementations preferred
  • CCTE or GTP designation preferred
  • Experience with implementing maintaining online booking tools such as Concur or Cytric
  • Understanding of strategic meeting management SMMP

Job Duties

  • Lead analysis of travel KPIs on a regular basis supporting reports to ULS executive team as well as key stakeholders
  • Evaluate and identify global travel program opportunities from a strategic perspective supporting recommendations to develop prioritize and implement plans to meet ULS’s core strategic goals including traveler safety and cost containment
  • Direct operational effectiveness and compliance in the organization’s global travel program
  • Understand local travel culture differences and local tools and systems
  • Lead collaboration with the Travel Management Company and preferred travel partners for opportunities to optimize the program and resolve issues
  • Regularly monitor travel vendor performance and contract compliance
  • Understand industry trends for developing future programs and cost savings strategy
  • Oversee audit processes and action feedback from travelers and key stakeholders
  • Maintain our online booking tools as well as recommend implement changes when necessary
  • Keep abreast of current travel developments and inform travelers as needed
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices
  • Perform other duties as directed
