Job Requirements
- graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalent certificate
- one year of experience in general unskilled kitchen or food service work
- ServSafe Certified
- valid Food Handlers certificate
- possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license if operation of a vehicle is necessary
- ability to perform essential functions after reasonable accommodation if disabled
Job Qualifications

- ServSafe Certified
- valid Food Handlers certificate
- ability to serve food from steam tables or other utensils efficiently
- ability to keep and prepare records such as production records, inventory, and temperature logs
- ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems
- ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English or acceptable alternative forms
Job Duties
- acts as a general assistant in a kitchen, bakery, cannery, dining room, cafeteria, or other food preparation or service unit
- serves special diets according to prescribed portions control guide set by dietitian
- washes, scrubs, pares, hulls, cores, and prepares vegetables, fruits, and berries for cooking or for serving using manual or power driven equipment
- may assume responsibility for certain phases of food preparation and cooking
- assists in cutting of meat and baking
- assists in keeping the kitchen or other areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition
- assists or takes the lead in serving food from steam tables and other cooking utensils
- delivers food to dining rooms and may assign employees in the delivery of this service
