Job Description

The Senior Food Service Worker position is part of the East Campus Dietary department at the East Campus Medical Center on Alvarado Road. This is a full-time career appointment with a unionized position under the SX Contract. The role offers a competitive hourly pay scale beginning at $25.17 and can extend to $30.07 based on skills and experience. The employee schedule is variable with 8-hour shifts occurring Sunday through Saturday. This role is essential in supporting the hospital’s food services, ensuring quality and timely delivery of patient meals and catering services.

In this role, the Senior Food Service Worker will operate under close supervision to perform a variety of duties related to patient food service, cafe operations, sanitation, food production, and catering. The successful candidate will assemble patient trays and food carts accurately and promptly while maintaining high standards of quality and food safety as dictated by departmental guidelines. Responsibilities include routine cleaning and stocking of pantries and other areas, and adherence to all departmental policies including dress code, safety, and sanitation standards.

The position demands a strong focus on customer service, maintaining professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent teamwork. The Senior Food Service Worker is expected to follow established recipes and correctly label and date all food items prepared and stored. This role requires an individual capable of performing physically demanding tasks such as bending, squatting, standing, and walking for extended periods, with the flexibility to work varying hours and locations as business needs dictate.
