The Senior Food Service Worker role at Banner Health represents a crucial position within the Culinary and Nutrition Department. This full-time night shift position operates from 7 pm to 3:30 am and includes holiday availability. The role is designed for individuals passionate about food service, with experience in cooking and customer service. The Senior Food Service Worker will be an integral part of the team, responsible for planning daily food production, preparing food according to standardized recipes, providing exceptional customer service, and handling cashier duties in retail areas. This position demands a strong knowledge of food handling and preparation principles, including the ability to adjust recipes and manage inventory efficiently to minimize waste. Additionally, team members will benefit from a $1,000 sign-on bonus, weekend and night shift differentials, and perks such as free uniforms, including two pairs of shoes annually, and a 20% discount on food.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two or more years of experience in production cooking or food preparation
  • Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
  • Effective communication skills
  • Friendly and customer-oriented attitude
  • Ability to calculate change accurately and quickly
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment
  • Food handler's card required within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services team members
  • Holiday availability for night shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least two years of experience in production cooking or similar food service
  • Strong knowledge of cooking principles and recipe modifications
  • Ability to learn and pass food handling certification tests
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Friendly customer service attitude
  • Ability to calculate and handle money accurately
  • Capacity to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Additional related education or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Plans daily food production timing and quantities
  • Determines menu substitutions in case of shortages
  • Minimizes food waste through effective planning and tracking
  • Records food shortages and excess quantities per department procedures
  • Prepares food items according to standardized recipes and adjusts quantities
  • Provides customer service and responds to complaints
  • Performs cashier duties accurately recording sales and handling payments
  • Maintains par levels of food and supplies
  • Orders and restocks items
  • Checks freshness and temperatures
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of assigned stations and equipment
  • Provides catering and special event services as needed
  • Works under general supervision resolving issues independently
