Job Description

ABM Industries is a global leader in facility services, offering comprehensive solutions that enhance the environments where people live, work, and play. Founded in 1909, ABM has grown into one of the world's largest facility service providers, generating nearly $8 billion in annual revenue with a dedicated workforce of over 100,000 team members. The company operates across 350+ offices throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and other international locations. ABM serves a diverse array of industries, including commercial office buildings, universities, airports, hospitals, data centers, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and entertainment venues, providing services from janitorial and engineering to electrical and lighting, energy infrastructure, HVAC, landscaping, and mission-critical support.

The Senior Field Service Technician position at ABM Industries, based in Kansas City, MO, is integral to the company’s Electrical Power Services team. This role is designed for experienced professionals holding NETA, NICET, or equivalent electrical testing certifications and skills. The Senior Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical power distribution equipment. This position requires up to 50% regional travel to customer sites, where technicians perform start-up, data collection, and comprehensive testing of electrical systems, often working both independently and collaboratively with crews. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, such as supervising trainees and junior technicians, managing project scope, evaluating test data, and preparing detailed reports for clients and ABM management.

Technicians are expected to maintain and test low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and motor control centers, as well as troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and generator controls. Part of the job includes performing relay calibrations, power metering, and conducting job hazard analyses, including arc-flash and shock risk assessments. Candidates are also involved in emergency on-call rotations and assist in the technical aspects of the sales process by serving as subject matter experts. ABM provides an appealing compensation package, including sign-on bonuses, relocation and temporary housing assistance, company service vehicles and fuel cards, and paid travel time locally, reflecting the company's commitment to attracting and retaining top talent in the field. The company emphasizes safety, compliance with regulatory laws, and continuous professional development, making this an attractive opportunity for seasoned electrical service technicians aiming to advance their careers within a reputable and established organization.
