The role of Kitchen Supervisor at Senior Lifestyle is a dynamic and rewarding position that requires overseeing daily kitchen operations to maintain excellence in food quality and service. In this position, you will be responsible for coordinating meal preparations according to standardized recipes while ensuring timely and visually appealing food presentations. You will lead the setup of food service lines, workstations, and condiments to meet daily menu demands, assist in recipe and menu development, and coordinate preparations for the subsequent day’s meal offerings. A significant aspect of the role involves leadership—conducting pre-meal meetings with food service teams, training new kitchen employees, managing staff scheduling to maintain adequate culinary coverage during shifts, and supervising a team that may include Sous Chefs, Cooks, Lead and Prep Cooks, and Utility Workers. The Kitchen Supervisor will actively participate in inventory management, food ordering, stockroom maintenance, and adherence to strict food safety and sanitation regulations imposed by state and local health departments. Maintaining kitchen and food preparation areas in a clean and compliant state is essential, along with implementing food storage and recycling techniques to minimize waste. Successful candidates will possess strong culinary knowledge, management skills, and the ability to switch tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Job Requirements
- Availability for weekdays and weekends
- 3+ years of experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
- Serv Safe or other required certifications
- Ability to manage and supervise kitchen staff
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience working in a commercial kitchen environment and/or a related certificate or degree from a college or technical school
- Associate’s Degree in culinary related field is preferred
- Serv Safe or other required local, county or state certifications
- Organized and great at communicating with co-workers and residents
- Take pride in the quality and presentation of food that you have helped to prepare
- Basic to advanced knowledge of cooking and preparation of meals
- Thorough understanding of food service techniques and requirements
- Great management skills and a willingness and desire to work harmoniously with all staff members
- Ability to switch tasks quickly and often
- Experience in event catering, batch and scratch cooking
- Knowledgeable in budgeting and cost analysis
Job Duties
- Availability for weekdays and weekends
- Prepare meals from standardized recipes in accordance with order in a timely and attractive manner
- Set up food service line and workstations with needed condiments
- Ensure all condiments and garnishes that are required are prepared and served with the appropriate foods
- Assist in recipe and menu development
- Coordinate prep for the following day’s menu
- Lead a pre-meal meeting with food servers to review detail of daily menu
- Assist with training of new kitchen employees
- Ensure an adequate number of culinary employees each shift and ensure absences are covered as to not allow coverage holes
- Assist with scheduling of employees within the department and team management
- Assist with food ordering, monitoring inventory and creating the menu cycle
- Keep stock rooms, coolers, and freezers clean and ensure that food supply stocks are rotated and that all perishables are labeled, dated, and stored properly
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food preparation according to state and local health department code requirements
- Keep food waste to a minimum by utilizing food storage and food recycling techniques
- Manage and supervise Sous Chefs, Cooks, Lead Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Utility Workers as needed
