Job Description
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a prestigious public research university renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, innovative research, and community engagement. As a prominent institution in the state of Wisconsin, it offers a dynamic and inclusive environment that fosters diversity and a collaborative culture among students, faculty, and staff. The university is home to numerous departments and units, including a robust athletics division known as Wisconsin Athletics. This division is responsible for managing the university's competitive sports programs while also creating memorable event experiences for fans, participants, and visitors.
Wisconsin Athletics is seeking a driven and experienced Senior Event Manager to join its well-established Event Management team. This is a 100% academic staff position that offers a competitive starting salary of $75,000 per year, which may be negotiable depending on the candidate's qualifications. The role provides an exceptional opportunity to play a primary role in supporting concerts and major live events at two iconic venues: Camp Randall Stadium and the Kohl Center. In addition, the Senior Event Manager will assist with event operations across the university’s 23 athletic programs, reinforcing Wisconsin Athletics’ reputation for hosting high-caliber sports and entertainment events.
The Senior Event Manager will serve as a key liaison between event promoters, production managers, and internal partners throughout every stage of the event process. This includes coordinating pre-event planning, overseeing on-site event execution, and assisting with post-event settlement to ensure every aspect aligns with contractual agreements, production riders, and venue-specific requirements. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and the ability to coordinate complex logistics to deliver seamless event experiences.
Moreover, this position requires strong leadership skills, as the Senior Event Manager may exercise supervisory authority over a team of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent employees, including responsibilities related to hiring, performance management, and staff development. The ideal candidate is passionate about the live events industry, adaptable to fast-paced and dynamic environments, and thrives under pressure. They will demonstrate exceptional communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding experiences for event participants and guests.
The department offers comprehensive benefits, including generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off, competitive insurance and retirement benefits, as well as exclusive access to Badger gear and season tickets to Badger football, men’s basketball, and men’s hockey events. This position aligns with the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s institutional commitment to diversity, inclusion, and excellence, providing an enriching workplace that values the unique backgrounds and perspectives of all employees.
