Job Description
For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (FPS) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization founded 25 years ago in honor of Pete Bossow. Over the years, FPS has expanded its reach and impact with a dedicated team of 15 staff members and an active Board of Directors. The organization is committed to providing transformative respite experiences to cancer patients aged 21 to 55, their caregivers, and their children through its three core programs: the Travel Respite Experience, the Staycation Respite Experience, and Respite Reinforced, which offers ongoing emotional support to families after their respite experiences. FPS partners with oncology professionals at over 100 hospitals and cancer centers nationwide to facilitate these programs, strengthening and deepening family relationships amid the challenges of cancer. The core mission of FPS is to highlight that it is love, not cancer, that defines the families it serves.
Currently, FPS is undergoing an ambitious period of transformational growth led by the Vision 2030 strategic initiative. Central to this vision is Pete’s Dream – the nation’s first-of-its-kind cancer respite center, which will expand access to respite experiences dramatically, increasing the number of individuals served annually from roughly 700 to over 4,000. This expansion is supported by a $32 million campaign aimed at funding the design, construction, launch, and endowment of the center to ensure its long-term sustainability. With the capital campaign nearing completion and an expanding annual operating budget projected to reach approximately $12 million within six years, FPS is poised to significantly increase its scale and impact.
In alignment with this exciting growth phase, FPS is seeking a passionate and collaborative Senior Events Manager. This leadership role offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned fundraising events professional to contribute to a respected and dynamic nonprofit. The Senior Events Manager will lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of FPS's signature fundraising events, with a goal of generating $1 million in annual revenue through these major events. Additionally, the role supports community events that raise an additional $250,000 annually.
The Senior Events Manager will serve as a vital bridge between multiple internal departments, including Marketing & Communications, Advancement, and Finance, ensuring that each event not only raises necessary funds but also embodies the compassionate mission of FPS and creates exceptional experiences for attendees and volunteers alike. This position also involves vendor management, budget oversight, the development and leadership of volunteer committees, and the cultivation of relationships with corporate sponsors and donors. Reporting directly to the Chief Engagement Officer, the Senior Events Manager will also supervise two Special Events Managers and help scale events as FPS expands nationally.
With a hybrid work environment based in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, and a salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 based on experience, this full-time exempt role caters to candidates who thrive in fast-paced, mission-driven settings and are eager to foster organizational growth through creative and effective event management. Candidates should expect to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and travel regionally for events and donor engagement. FPS offers a comprehensive benefits package to support employee well-being and professional growth, including full health coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and more.
This is a remarkable opportunity for those passionate about nonprofit missions and fundraising events to join an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of cancer-affected families across the nation. FPS's commitment to love, family, and resilience offers a uniquely rewarding career path for the right Senior Events Manager.
