This full-time, management-level position is located at the JW Marriott property at 901 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC. With an annual salary range of $90,138 to $120,000 plus eligibility for bonuses, the role offers a rewarding career opportunity for experienced event management professionals passionate about creating memorable events. The Event Manager is responsible for preparing all event documentation and coordinating closely with sales teams, property departments, and clients to ensure the delivery of seamless, high-quality service throughout all event phases.
The role primarily focuses on handling complex events and ensuring smooth transitions from sales to service and back to sales. The Event Manager acts as the primary on-site contact for clients post-sale and oversees the entire event experience from file turnover to the post-event phase. Responsibilities include leading pre- and post-event meetings, identifying and resolving operational challenges, managing customer budgets, and coordinating room blocks and meeting spaces. This position plays an active role in sales and marketing by recognizing opportunities to upsell products and services and participating in customer site inspections.
The Event Manager supports the Director of Event Management or Director of Event Planning and Operations and may act on their behalf when needed. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication to liaise effectively between customers, sales, and property teams, and meticulous attention to detail to maintain adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures. Providing exceptional customer service is central to the position, ensuring clients’ needs are met, guest feedback is gathered and acted upon, and any issues are swiftly addressed to uphold the highest satisfaction levels.
