Job Description
Marriott International, a global leader in the hospitality industry, is renowned for its commitment to service excellence, innovative guest experiences, and outstanding workplace culture. With a vast portfolio of hotels and resorts across the globe, Marriott emphasizes the creation of memorable moments for its guests while fostering a thriving professional environment for its associates. The Westin brand, a part of Marriott International, is dedicated to wellness and well-being, positioning itself as the preeminent wellness brand in hospitality. This dedication to guest health and rejuvenation aligns perfectly with Westin’s mission to empower travelers to be the best version of themselves during their stay. The company culture at Westin is built on a foundation of passion, optimism, and an adventurous spirit, encouraging associates to maintain both personal and professional well-being.
The role of Event Manager at Marriott’s Westin property is a pivotal position that requires a highly organized, proactive, and customer-focused individual to oversee complex event planning and execution. This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $83,000 to $110,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package. The Event Manager is responsible for preparing all event documentation and coordinating between the sales team, property departments, and customers to ensure seamless delivery of events from start to finish. The role involves managing complex events and ensuring a smooth transition between sales and service teams, maximizing revenue by upselling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events.
In this capacity, the Event Manager serves as the primary on-property contact for clients after the initial sales turnover, maintaining the customer experience throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event phases. They lead pre-event and post-event meetings, identify and resolve operational challenges, manage customer budgets, and oversee group room blocks and meeting spaces. Additionally, the Event Manager actively participates in customer site inspections, assists with the sales process as needed, and acts as a liaison between the sales department and customers during the entire event lifecycle.
The Event Manager also plays a critical role in managing the profitability and revenue forecasts of assigned groups, including catering and audiovisual services. They are responsible for reviewing billing and payment details with clients, ensuring accuracy and satisfaction. Committed to delivering exceptional customer service, the Event Manager regularly interacts with guests to obtain feedback on service and product quality, addresses complaints promptly, and continuously seeks ways to enhance service performance. They set a positive example for guest relations, communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, and celebrate team successes.
Marriott International offers a robust benefits program including a bonus system, comprehensive health care coverage, a 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, employee stock purchase plan, paid time off including sick leave, life and group disability insurance, travel discounts, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, and other wellness and work-life balance benefits. These incentives are designed to support the professional growth and personal well-being of associates.
At Westin, the Event Manager is expected to embrace the brand’s wellness ethos and to contribute positively to the vibrant, inclusive culture. Ideal candidates are passionate about wellness, active in maintaining their own health, optimistic, and adventurous. Working at Westin is an opportunity to be part of a global team committed to redefining hospitality through wellness-focused guest experiences and outstanding event management. This role is integral to driving Marriott’s mission and sustaining its reputation as a leader in the hospitality event industry.
