Job Description

Loyola Marymount University (LMU) is a prestigious institution recognized for its commitment to inclusive excellence, the education of the whole person, and fostering a just society. As a Carnegie classified R2 university within American Catholic higher education, LMU blends academic rigor with core values that promote ethical conduct, responsibility, and accountability. The Law School, a vital component of LMU, serves as a hub for intellectual engagement and professional growth, frequently hosting conferences, colloquia, dinners, receptions, and fundraising events that require meticulous planning and coordination. This role supports the Law School's mission by ensuring that all events are flawlessly executed to enhance the institution’s community image and reputation.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced event professional to join LMU as an Event Coordinator supporting year-round programmatic and fundraising events at the Law School. The Event Coordinator will work with faculty, deans, and senior leadership to assess and deliver programmatic, logistical, and operational requirements necessary to support highly impactful academic and social gatherings. This position plays a crucial role in building relationships with stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring adherence to university policies and budgetary constraints, and delivering excellent customer service.

The role demands an individual who can manage multiple assignments simultaneously, from negotiating contracts and coordinating marketing materials to managing on-site event logistics and volunteer staff. Attention to detail, superior organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment are essential to success. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in events management, particularly within a college, university, or non-profit setting, with a proven track record in donor recognition and special event planning.

Salary for this staff regular position ranges from $71,100 to $88,900, commensurate with education and experience. The position may require working extended days, weekends, and evenings to effectively staff events and meet deadlines. LMU encourages every employee to exhibit behavior that upholds the university’s mission, values, and vision through professional, ethical, and responsible conduct.

Loyola Marymount University values diversity and inclusivity, encouraging applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply. The university is committed to equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations during the recruitment process for candidates with disabilities, ensuring a supportive and equitable working environment.

In summary, the Event Coordinator will be integral to the Law School’s event success by partnering with university leadership to plan, manage, and execute a diverse array of academic and fundraising events. This includes managing budgets, coordinating invitations and promotional materials, securing venues and vendors, arranging logistics such as catering and transportation, and supervising volunteers and staff. The role requires an individual who is not only adept at detailed event planning and operational efficiency but also embodies LMU’s values of inclusiveness and community engagement.
