The Wexner Center for the Arts is a renowned multidisciplinary facility affiliated with The Ohio State University. The Senior Event and Visitor Experience Coordinator role is essential to maintaining the Wexner Center’s standards of excellence in visitor engagement. This position is responsible for leading day-to-day operations that ensure safe, smooth, and rewarding experiences for all visitors. By overseeing public spaces and fostering collaboration across multiple units within the center, the coordinator ensures that every event and program runs seamlessly and meets the expectations of diverse audiences. A key component of this role involves acting as a liaison between the center and external partners such as The Ohio State University’s Department of Public Safety, CampusParc, custodial services, and the center’s café operator. This partnership management includes supporting lease negotiations, coordinating facility maintenance, and developing promotional efforts that align with the center’s creative programming.
In addition to operational management, the Senior Event and Visitor Experience Coordinator plays a central role in the execution of events. They work closely with the events team, serving as the main contact on the day of events hosted by the Wexner Center, The Center for the Advancement of Social Engagement (CASE), and other rental activities. This requires strong organizational skills and the ability to respond quickly and effectively to onsite needs. Furthermore, the coordinator supervises bar operations, including scheduling staff and ensuring compliance with all regulations to provide seamless beverage service during events.
This position demands a versatile professional who can integrate operational management, partnership building, and event leadership. The coordinator will help drive the mission of the Wexner Center by enhancing visitor engagement through excellent customer service, safety practices, and strategic event coordination. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in arts, humanities, or a related field
- At least 4 years of experience in museum, cultural organization, public engagement, or public programming/events management
- Experience coordinating multiple venue schedules
- Strong communication skills
- Experience managing budgets
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience mediating or facilitating diverse discussions
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in arts, humanities, or a related field and at least 4+ years of experience in a museum, cultural organization, public engagement, or public programming or events management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience coordinating multiple venue schedules
- Background in professional arts/events management, development, and/or nonprofit organizations
- Strong communication skills, including discretion with sensitive information
- Experience coordinating events for adult audiences and integrating feedback into planning
- Basic understanding of audience engagement and outreach strategies
- Skill in public presentation and convening diverse groups
- Strong cultural competency and awareness of cultural identities/differences
- Experience managing budgets, including projections and expense tracking
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible in fast-paced, changing environments
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to improvise when needed
- Proactive, independent work style with experience mediating/facilitating discussions across diverse backgrounds, ages, abilities, and perspectives
Job Duties
