Job Description
Macquarie is a leading global financial services group with over 57 years of consistent profitability and operations spanning 30 markets worldwide. The company specializes in diverse financial services including capital provision, financing, risk management, market access, and physical execution solutions. Within its expansive network, the Commodities and Global Markets (CGM) business plays a crucial role by offering comprehensive services across commodities, financial markets, and asset finance, catering to a wide and varied client base globally. This dynamic and fast-paced environment fosters innovation and collaboration, empowering employees to shape impactful careers and contribute meaningfully to global markets while upholding values of inclusion and diversity.
We are currently seeking an experienced Energy Quantitative Analyst to join our Commodities and Global Markets group at our Houston office. This role is pivotal within the Quantitative Strategist team, where you will apply advanced quantitative techniques to develop and maintain sophisticated models that support our energy trading desks. Your primary focus will be derivatives pricing and physical asset modelling, including power plants, storage facilities, and renewable energy projects. By leveraging cutting-edge quantitative methods such as stochastic processes, numerical methods, and optimization techniques, you will enhance risk management and operational efficiency while driving revenue growth.
The Energy Quantitative Analyst will collaborate closely with traders, structurers, and risk managers to develop production-grade quantitative models and tools for derivatives valuation and asset optimization. Your responsibilities will include researching and implementing new valuation models, improving existing pricing and risk tools, and performing scenario analysis to support informed trading strategies. This role demands a passion for solving complex problems, a keen eye for detail, and exceptional communication skills to thrive in a collaborative, high-stakes trading environment.
Candidates should bring at least five years of relevant experience in energy markets or a related quantitative field, alongside a strong programming background in languages such as Python and C++. The ideal candidate holds a top-tier master’s or doctoral degree in a quantitative discipline like mathematics, physics, engineering, or computer science. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a global, revenue-aligned team that values innovation, impact, and personal career development. Macquarie’s inclusive culture ensures every team member is respected and supported to achieve their potential, with accommodations available throughout the recruitment and employment process if needed.
