Job Description
Liberty Mutual Investments Technology is a division of Liberty Mutual Insurance, a highly reputable and globally recognized financial services company dedicated to delivering innovative insurance and investment solutions. As a part of this leading organization, Liberty Mutual Investments Technology specializes in developing advanced technology solutions to support the company’s extensive investment portfolio and financial operations. This includes creating, maintaining, and optimizing financial data systems that empower the organization to make well-informed decisions and maintain its competitive edge in the market. The company emphasizes a hybrid work arrangement with an expectation of some in-office presence in Boston, reflecting its commitment to a collaborative and flexible working environment.
The Senior Data Engineer role within the Financial – Enterprise Data Management (EDM) team at Liberty Mutual Investments Technology represents an exciting opportunity for experienced data professionals. Focused on the development and support of enterprise data pipelines and data management solutions, this role is critical in managing market, reference, and financial data within the EDM platform. This platform, previously known as Markit EDM and hosted externally via a SaaS model by Gresham Technologies, operates on Microsoft SQL Server, providing a robust and scalable environment for financial data operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data workflows, models, and integration processes that facilitate data ingestion, validation, enrichment, matching, and distribution. Key tasks include building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating data from various sources such as internal vendors, APIs, and flat files, and implementing measures to ensure high data quality through checks, reconciliations, and monitoring. This role is instrumental in supporting the Data Integrity Team by enabling them to effectively reconcile market and reference data, which is crucial to maintaining the reliability and accuracy of financial information used across various business units.
Collaboration is at the heart of this position, with the Senior Data Engineer expected to work closely with data engineers, analysts, and product stakeholders within an agile, squad-based model. This dynamic work style promotes innovation, continuous improvement, and the rapid delivery of high-quality data solutions. Additionally, the role includes mentoring junior engineers and participating in code reviews to uphold engineering best practices and standards. Candidates will have the unique opportunity to leverage their investment knowledge while engaging directly with business teams to contribute meaningfully to critical data functions.
Liberty Mutual Investments Technology fosters an inclusive culture where employees' diverse perspectives and experiences are valued. The company supports professional development, workplace flexibility, and a range of employee resource groups designed to help individuals thrive and make a meaningful impact both within the organization and in the larger community. The senior data engineering position offers a career path with competitive compensation and benefits designed to support employees' well-being and professional growth. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about data engineering within the finance sector, eager to work at the intersection of technology and investment data management, and who want to be a part of a team committed to operational excellence and innovation.
