Job Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent preferred
  • six months brokerage experience required
  • one year experience with customer contact required
  • data entry and keyboard experience required
  • working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook
  • CCS and/or Brokers license preferred
  • required use of MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment such as phone, fax, photocopier, printer, scanner
  • excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • organizational and interpersonal skills
  • problem-solving skills
  • ability to handle high volume work and time-sensitive tasks
  • ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • ability to use multiple systems and reference material
  • interaction with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, management, and departments
  • knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules required

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Coordinate documentation required by U.S. Customs and government agencies for high-risk shipments
  • provide impeccable customer service
  • engage with customers regarding commodity classifications and duty preferences
  • obtain correct classification of goods from databases, SOPs, tariff books, or customs
  • perform data entry and processing of import documentation
  • maintain shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements
  • adhere to international importing and exporting regulations
  • work with internal staff, other FedEx offices, customers, and government agencies
  • process agency brokerage shipments
  • handle remote filings
  • perform entry reconciliations and reviews
  • follow up on customs matters and resolve problems
  • ensure compliance with government and organizational policies
  • perform other assigned duties
