The Custodial Worker position at UCLA Health plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary environment across various healthcare settings including patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary and procedure rooms, conference and office spaces, hallways, and public areas. Under the supervision of a Custodial Supervisor, custodial staff are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring all areas meet stringent hygiene and cleanliness standards essential to patient care and safety. This role requires operating various cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, shampoo machines, and floor machines as well as performing specialized tasks including isolation room cleaning, high and low dusting, and the use of approved cleaning solutions. The Custodial Worker must adhere to protocols in the proper use and storage of disinfectants, detergents, soaps, and floor waxes to prevent contamination and contribute to infection control.

Job Duties

  • Clean assigned areas including patient rooms, nursing stations, ancillary rooms, exam and procedure rooms, conference rooms, offices, hallways, corridors, and public areas
  • Operate vacuum cleaners, buffers, wall and window washing, shampoo machines and floor machines
  • Sweep, strip and wax floors
  • Perform isolation room cleaning
  • Perform high and low dusting
  • Clean vertical and horizontal surfaces using approved cleaning solutions
  • Use and store disinfectants, cleaning solutions, soap, detergents and floor waxes correctly
