Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of experience in custodial or housekeeping operations or equivalent training and experience
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals and disposal
- Willingness and ability to work scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency overtime
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment including stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, carpet extractors, and cleaning machines
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and graveyard shifts
- Ability to follow through assignments with minimal direction
- Must pass a background check
- Current work authorization
- Compliance with university policies and collective bargaining agreements
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of experience in custodial or housekeeping operations or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
- Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals including understanding dangers and disposal methods
- Ability to use a wide variety of custodial equipment safely and effectively
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and various shifts
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Perform a variety of custodial tasks including cleaning, dusting, stripping, waxing, sweeping, mopping, polishing, disinfecting, sanitizing, washing, and vacuuming throughout campus facilities
- Replenish restrooms with necessary supplies
- Remove refuse and recycling materials campus-wide
- Maintain cleanliness in conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, offices, classrooms, laboratories, auditoriums, restrooms, lounges, hallways, residential facilities, and exteriors
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, carpet extractors, and cleaning machines
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned work areas
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty, and students while maintaining a positive attitude
