As part of the University of California system, UC Riverside is a leading research university committed to fostering academic excellence and community engagement. Auxiliary Facilities Services plays a critical role in providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by ensuring all campus buildings and surrounding areas are meticulously cared for. This department exemplifies a commitment to operational excellence, using industry best practices and environmentally responsible methods to preserve the campus's aesthetic and functional standards.

The Senior Custodian role at UC Riverside is an essential position responsible for a wide array of custodial tasks that contribute to the upkeep and sanitation of campus facilities. The incumbent will be instrumental in disinfecting, sanitizing, polishing, waxing, and vacuuming floors and surfaces to maintain a hygienic and visually appealing campus environment. Utilizing a variety of cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and effectively is a key component of this position.

A Senior Custodian at UC Riverside may work independently or collaboratively within a team, depending on assigned tasks and workloads. The role requires maintaining a positive and professional attitude while communicating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty, and students. This interaction underlines the importance of the position in supporting the overall campus community experience.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $25.00 to $28.89 per hour, tailored based on factors such as education, relevant licensure or certifications, experience, and other organizational needs. The role demands flexibility, including availability to work scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency overtime, varied shifts such as early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and potentially graveyard shifts to accommodate the dynamic schedule of campus events and activities.

Candidates must possess current work authorization to accept employment with UC Riverside, as the university currently does not sponsor or transfer employment visas for staff positions. The Senior Custodian is also expected to comply with all applicable University policies and collective bargaining agreements, which may be subject to amendments. In addition, federal, state, and local government directives might impose additional requirements that must be adhered to during the course of employment.
