The role of the Cook at Universal Kids Resort is a vital position within the kitchen team, responsible for preparing and cooking food across multiple food stations to meet Universal Studios' high standards. This role supports the culinary team by assisting the Sous Chef in leading and managing the Line Cooks during service, ensuring that food preparation is efficient, safe, and of exceptional quality. The cook will demonstrate proficiency in food preparation techniques and food safety practices, as well as have the ability to train and mentor new team members. Working across all kitchen stations, the Cook must be adaptable and knowledgeable about various menu items, portion specifications, and health and safety regulations.

This position is ideal for individuals with at least two years of experience as a Line Cook or equivalent, who are eager to deepen their skills in a fast-paced and dynamic multi-unit operation. The Cook will also be involved in inventory management, order receiving, and assisting with the overall kitchen workflow to optimize labor and operational efficiency. Certification such as a Certified Professional Food Manager is preferred, and knowledge of HACCP programs and ServSafe certification standards is expected to ensure compliance with Texas state food safety regulations.

Job Requirements

  • minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 2 years of line cook experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • basic understanding of inventory and food safety protocols
  • knowledge of Texas state food safety regulations
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-unit operation
  • availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to train and lead team members in the absence of culinary leadership

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 2 years line cook experience or equivalent

Job Duties

  • prepare and cook food at all kitchen stations to meet Universal standards
  • monitor line cooks for proper food safety practices
