Serving more than 1.1 million patients annually from every county in Alabama, all 50 states, and various countries globally, UAB Medicine encompasses an extensive network of hospitals, emergency departments, multiple care sites, and a dedicated team of over 2,200 physicians. Its key facilities include UAB Hospital, the state’s top-ranked hospital, known for being the only ACS-verified Level I adult trauma center and a Magnet-designated hospital, along with specialized centers like UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye and five UAB St. Vincent’s hospitals throughout central Alabama.
This diverse network allows UAB Medicine to offer career opportunities spanning a broad spectrum of practice environments, from its internationally renowned academic medical center to award-winning community hospitals and primary and specialty care clinics across the state. Prospective employees can find a welcoming environment tailored to their aspirations, whether seeking the dynamic pace of tertiary care or the close-knit atmosphere of community healthcare. The organization fosters professional growth with nearly every medical specialty represented and provides industry-leading benefits to support the diverse needs of its staff.
The role available is that of a Food Production Worker, vital to the smooth operation of patient, visitor, and staff dining services. This full-time position offers shifts in both AM and PM, including weekends, with flexible schedules such as early morning to early afternoon and midday to evening shifts. Compensation ranges from $17.95 to $29.20 per hour, reflecting the specialized nature of the work and responsibilities involved.
As a Food Production Worker, you will be responsible for preparing food items using specialized equipment to meet established quality standards and dietary requirements. This role requires attention to detail, compliance with health and safety regulations, and effective communication with supervisors regarding recipe and production matters. The position also entails contributing to setting quality standards, establishing workflow processes, and training new or existing production staff, thereby supporting continuous improvement in food service operations.
Working within UAB Medicine offers the unique opportunity to be part of a mission-driven healthcare organization committed to life-changing care. Employees benefit from robust educational assistance programs, generous paid time off, employee assistance and wellness programs, paid parental leave, and eligibility for public service loan forgiveness programs. These offerings underscore UAB Medicine's dedication to the well-being and development of its workforce, ensuring a supportive and rewarding work environment for those committed to healthcare service beyond clinical roles.
