Job Description

Morrison Healthcare, a Compass Healthcare company, is a leading provider of culinary, nutritional, and operational services specifically tailored for healthcare settings. With over 70 years of experience supporting major health systems across the United States, Morrison Healthcare has established itself as a trusted partner dedicated to nourishing patients, caregivers, and communities with the highest standards of quality and care. Employing more than 31,000 team members, including 1,600 registered dietitians and 1,200 executive chefs, Morrison Healthcare fosters a culture rooted in collaboration, responsibility, and shared success. Their mission goes beyond food service; they aim to create meaningful moments and promote wellness throughout every meal served in healthcare environments.

The position of Senior Cook is a critical role within Morrison Healthcare’s culinary team, located at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Marcos, Texas. This full-time opportunity requires individuals who are passionate about food preparation and quality control, ensuring that every meal served meets both nutritional and flavor expectations while adhering to strict health and safety standards. Operating under the guidance of the Food Service Director, the Senior Cook will not only prepare diverse entrees and menu items but also oversee the cooking activities of food service associates. This position demands proficiency in maintaining organized storage, proper labeling, and dating of food items, and rigorous compliance with HACCP guidelines to guarantee food safety.

One of the core responsibilities within this role is ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations. Additionally, the Senior Cook is tasked with performing cleaning duties, operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, and assisting in employee training efforts. Documentation and accurate record-keeping related to daily food production are important facets of the job and will be collaboratively managed with the Food Service Director. The schedule is full-time with varied days and hours, reflecting the dynamic nature of healthcare food service. Compensation ranges from $17.00 to $18.00 per hour, reflecting both the experience and expertise required for this role. Candidates with at least four years of applicable cooking experience are preferred, underscoring the importance of skill and seasoned culinary knowledge in this position.

Morrison Healthcare offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the whole team member, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans. Various wellness and voluntary insurance programs like pet insurance, critical illness, and accident insurance are also available, contributing to a supportive and caring work environment. The company is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring fair treatment of all applicants and employees regardless of background or classification. Morrison Healthcare maintains a drug-free workplace and encourages ongoing professional development and growth within its robust organizational framework. Potential candidates will be joining a team that is not only dedicated to culinary excellence but also passionately engaged in making a positive impact in healthcare settings every day.
