Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Minimum two years experience in production cooking or related field
- Ability to prepare food according to standardized recipes
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and ability to obtain food handler certification
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions
- Capacity to perform math calculations related to food production
- Willingness to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
- For Banner Behavioral Health, possession of Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Two or more years of experience in institutional food production or similar roles
- Solid understanding of cooking principles and menu substitutions
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to perform math calculations for recipes and food quantities
- Knowledge of food handling regulations and certification
- Ability to work under time constraints and follow cleaning schedules
- Experience with commercial kitchen equipment
- Leadership abilities in food preparation
Job Duties
- Prepares all food items according to standardized recipes
- Adjusts recipe quantities for correct yields
- Notifies supervisor of any production problems
- Plans food production timing and quantities based on daily orders and menus
- Determines menu substitutions when shortages occur
- Minimizes food waste through planning and tracking
- Checks and logs food and equipment temperatures
- Maintains par levels of food and supplies
- Orders and restocks items
- Rotates food stocks and checks freshness
- Keeps work areas clean and orderly
- Reports needed equipment repairs
- Receives and checks in deliveries from vendors
- Provides leadership and cooking knowledge to kitchen staff
- May deal with external customers in cafe or catering roles
