The role of Senior Conference Services Manager at Sonesta Denver (Downtown) is a non-exempt hourly position within the Sales department, reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing. The pay range for this position is $35.00 to $38.00 per hour, and it is eligible for a very competitive bonus structure. The Senior Conference Services Manager plays a vital leadership role within the Sales department by contributing under the guidance of the Director. Primary responsibilities include planning, organizing, and managing all details related to large group and convention bookings, including menus and set-up arrangements. This role serves as a trusted advisor to both internal and external clients to ensure exceptional guest service and financial profitability.
Key tasks involve negotiating meeting and function room contracts, rates, and requirements, as well as maximizing room and meeting space revenues and profits while maintaining a high-quality product. Execution of event planning is crucial, including coordination from the signing of group contracts onward, managing VIP needs, amenities, and compiling group resumes. The role also assists with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for groups and local catering. The ideal candidate must be highly self-driven, possess exceptional communication and customer relations skills, and demonstrate strong business acumen.
Additional duties include maintaining strong client relations, managing room blocks according to contracts, monitoring deadlines, producing and distributing convention resumes, reviewing billing and deposit schedules, and leading pre- and post-convention meetings. The manager is responsible for forecasting group room nights accurately, staying knowledgeable about market trends, and participating in banquet and catering forecasting and menu auditing. The role requires collaboration with hotel operational departments to ensure seamless service delivery to clients. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and variable shifts, is essential, as well as the physical capacity to perform the demands of the job such as lifting and moving objects and being actively mobile throughout the hotel.

Job Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent
- 3+ years of sales or conference service experience
- Knowledge of hotel sales and catering preferred
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends, holidays, days, nights, and overnights
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move around frequently
- Must complete full application and attach resume
- Must be able to work on-location only
Job Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- College coursework in related field preferred
- 3+ years sales or conference service experience preferred
- Knowledge of hotel sales and/or catering preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively
- Extensive knowledge of hotel and hospitality industry
- Experience with Delphi and Opera PMS is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Job Duties
- Maintain strong client relations and ensure successful meeting experience for meeting planners and attendees
- Monitor and manage room blocks according to contract to maximize hotel revenue
- Monitor and enforce program deadline dates and release unused meeting space as needed
- Produce and distribute convention resumes and communicate changes to hotel departments
- Monitor billing, deposits, and review billing statements
- Arrange and lead pre/post-convention meetings
- Review sales contracts and validate details with clients
- Respond to client questions regarding event details and billing
- Partner with hotel operations departments to ensure service quality
- Follow company processes and meet deadlines
- Monitor and assess service and satisfaction trends and implement improvements
- Accurately forecast group room blocks within 5% variance
- Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends and competition
- Participate in banquet and catering forecasting, menu auditing, and process management
- Perform other duties as assigned
