This role focuses on assuring QEH&S compliance within assigned business units and their associated operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for actively leading improvements and implementing risk mitigation strategies to ensure the highest operational safety and quality standards. They will manage changes in regulatory and internal requirements ensuring seamless adaptation within operations. By collaborating closely with business units and the regional Quality, Environment, Health & Safety (QEHS) teams, this role drives compliance strategies and aims for zero incident performance. Reporting directly to the Director of Regional Operations Compliance, this full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $105,000 to $115,000 annually.

Responsibilities include leading and mentoring QEH&S team members at hub units, driving regional goals and ensuring achievement of compliance targets. The role requires close interaction with support functions such as Human Resources and Customer Service to identify and reduce operational risks. Technical support will be provided in areas such as food safety, occupational health and safety, chemical safety, waste management, pollution prevention, air quality, and environmental reporting. This position also involves preparing reports and proposals for leadership, ensuring budget adherence, and coordinating with regulatory agencies and airport authorities.

Special projects supporting company business objectives, integrating sustainable compliance solutions, and continuous improvement of risk prevention processes are core to this role. The candidate will lead training initiatives, promote waste reduction programs, and analyze quality defects and safety incidents to implement corrective and preventive actions. Monitoring and communicating safety trends via scorecards, administering corporate policies, and supporting health and wellness initiatives also fall under this role’s scope.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or a related field, with at least five years of industrial experience in quality, environmental, health, and safety management. Experience within the airline or food industries is preferred, along with a proven track record of successful QEH&S process implementation. Technical certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are desired but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be detail-oriented, flexible, and self-motivated to succeed in a fast-paced environment. This position requires about 15% travel and includes work environments ranging from office settings to airport ramps and flight kitchens. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • provides leadership and development for hub unit QEH&S team members through teaching and coaching
  • drives successful attainment of regional QEH&S goals, objectives and targets at the unit level
  • liaises with support functions such as human resources and customer service to evaluate and reduce potential risks
  • provides operating unit technical support in quality, food safety, occupational safety and health, chemical safety, waste management, pollution prevention, air quality and environmental annual reporting
  • prepares proposals and reports for unit and regional leadership
  • ensures adherence to departmental budgets
  • liaises with unit customers, union representatives, airport and regulatory agencies to identify emerging trends and issues
  • implements special projects related to company business objectives related to QEH&S
  • assesses and ensures compliance with local, state and federal food safety, environmental, health and safety regulations
  • partners with units to integrate sustainable compliance solutions within operations
  • supports environmental compliance calendars for assigned units
  • works with regulatory agencies and environmental consulting firms to ensure permits are maintained
  • supports unit operations training in QEH&S
  • drives waste minimization, reduction and recycling process through identification of opportunities and targets
  • supports operating unit program implementation
  • supports operating units in determination of quality defects, accident and injury root causes, corrective and preventive actions
  • monitors, measures and communicates unit safety trends, targets and impacts through QEH&S scorecards
  • evaluates and improves unit risk prevention process effectiveness
  • works with operations leadership to optimize deployment of QEH&S processes
  • administers corporate QEH&S policies and procedures within hub units and makes improvement recommendations
  • identifies and supports implementation of CSR, health and wellness initiatives at the unit level
  • completes HARPC Preventative Controls for Human Food training and certification to be a PCQI
  • completes company required training including ServSafe Sanitation Manager Certification
