Job Description
Amira Choice of Plymouth is a prominent senior living community that opened its doors in 2018. Located conveniently at the intersection of Old Rockford Road and Highway 55 in the Northwest suburb of Plymouth, Minnesota, this establishment is dedicated to providing a supportive, engaging, and comfortable environment for older adults. As one of the newest senior communities, Amira Choice offers an array of living options including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Care Suites, totaling 94 units. The community emphasizes a mission to heal, discover, and educate, aiming to enhance the quality of life and promote longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives for its residents. The team at Amira Choice consists of highly skilled caregivers and professionals who strive to meet the unique needs of each resident while maintaining high standards of care and service.
The Senior Chef role at Amira Choice of Plymouth is a critical position within the culinary team, responsible for ensuring the preparation and presentation of meals that comply with health regulations and exceed customer expectations. This is a full-time role requiring approximately 72 hours per pay period, including day and evening shifts and weekend work as needed. The Senior Chef contributes significantly to the daily culinary operations, assisting with health inspections, menu planning, and the organization of daily prep tasks. This role demands culinary expertise in preparing food items to specified temperatures using standardized recipes that ensure consistency in quality, nutritional value, and appropriate portion sizes.
Furthermore, the Senior Chef plays a supportive role in coordinating special events with the Culinary Director, assembling meals and bakery items within designated time frames. A key responsibility includes the proper knowledge and preparation of texturized diets following the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization (IDDSI) standards, ensuring that all dietary needs of the residents are met safely and effectively. Leadership is an essential aspect of this position; the Senior Chef is expected to demonstrate the ability to supervise kitchen staff and manage daily operations in the Culinary Director's absence. This includes handling customer feedback related to meals and service quality, coaching team members, managing schedules and call-ins, conducting staff evaluations, and verifying orders.
The role requires candidates to have at least one year of relevant food service experience and obtain a Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANAB-CFP accredited food sanitation program within 90 days of employment. Preferred qualifications include an Associate of Arts degree in Food Service or related Vocational/Technical Training, along with certification as a Food Protection Manager issued by the State of Minnesota for roles based in the state. The offered salary range is competitive, between $22.96 and $32.42 hourly, reflecting the candidate's skills, knowledge, education, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Ebenezer, the organization behind Amira Choice, provides a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans; life insurance; disability insurance; paid time off; tuition reimbursement; retirement options; and additional perks aimed at supporting employee well-being and professional growth. The company fosters an inclusive and equitable work environment, welcoming all qualified applicants without regard to any legally protected status, aligning with its commitment to equal employment opportunity.
