Part of the reputable Ebenezer organization, Vernon Terrace is designed to offer residents an elegant and comfortable environment with a full spectrum of senior care services including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The community prides itself on its vibrant atmosphere and commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents. The dedicated care team at Vernon Terrace embodies Ebenezer's mission to heal, discover, and educate, striving to ensure that residents enjoy longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives through compassionate care and exceptional service.
The role of Senior Chef at Vernon Terrace is a vital position responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of meals that comply with all applicable regulations and meet high customer expectations. This full-time role requires working 80 hours every two weeks, including every other weekend and holiday rotations, offering candidates a stable and structured schedule. The Senior Chef will play a key role in supporting culinary operations by assisting with health inspections, menu planning, and preparing daily task sheets for kitchen staff. Additionally, this role demands precise food preparation including cooking to specified temperatures, following standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality, nutritional value, and accurate portioning. Mastery in the preparation of specialized texturized diets according to International Dysphagia Diet Standardization (IDDSI) standards is also required.
This position includes responsibilities such as assembling meals and bakery items within designated time frames and coordinating special events in partnership with the Culinary Director. The Senior Chef must demonstrate strong leadership abilities, capable of supervising kitchen staff and managing daily kitchen operations and customer service in the absence of the Culinary Director. Effective communication skills are essential to relay resident and guest feedback to ensure continuous improvement in meal and service quality. The Senior Chef will oversee scheduling, handle staff call-ins, conduct evaluations, and verify orders, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen.
Offering hourly compensation ranging from $22.01 to $30.83, Vernon Terrace provides a competitive salary reflective of experience, skills, education, and market conditions. The organization emphasizes pay equity and considers internal team equity in salary determinations. In addition to competitive pay, Vernon Terrace offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes but is not limited to medical, dental, vision plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, paid time off (PTO), sick and safe time, tuition reimbursement, retirement plans, and early access to earned wages. This benefits package highlights the organization's commitment to supporting its employees’ well-being both professionally and personally.
Vernon Terrace maintains an inclusive work environment and is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to any lawfully protected status, reflecting the organization's dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its workforce. Prospective candidates for the Senior Chef role will find a rewarding opportunity that combines culinary expertise, leadership, and a meaningful mission to positively impact the lives of seniors in a welcoming and supportive community.
