The Sales and Marketing Management position at The Ritz-Carlton Portland is a full-time role that offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $33.17 to $43.75, along with eligibility for bonuses. This role is pivotal in driving the hotel's group and catering business, focusing on securing lucrative opportunities with significant revenue potential. The Sales Manager proactively solicits new group and catering clients, aligns customer profiles with appropriate hotel products, and maximizes revenue through up-selling and creative sales strategies. The position requires handling large group accounts and other customer segments that contribute substantially to property revenue. Success in this role is measured by achieving personal and team-related revenue goals while ensuring that all business opportunities are turned over promptly for seamless service delivery in line with The Ritz-Carlton's brand standards. The role demands a strong understanding of the market, including competitor analysis and economic trends, to effectively position The Ritz-Carlton Portland's offerings. Candidates will also build and maintain strong client relationships through various activities such as sales calls, trade shows, fam trips, and community engagement. Additionally, the role encompasses developing and executing contracts, utilizing sales resources and administrative support, and consistently upholding the brand's customer service and operational standards. Job Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in business administration, marketing, hotel and restaurant management, or related major
  • 5 years experience in sales and marketing or related professional area
  • OR 4-year bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hotel and restaurant management, or related major
  • 3 years of experience in sales and marketing or related professional area
  • Ability to proactively solicit and manage group and catering business
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work full time in Portland, Oregon

Job Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in business administration, marketing, hotel and restaurant management, or related field with 5 years of sales and marketing or related experience
  • OR 4-year bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hotel and restaurant management, or related field with 3 years of sales and marketing or related experience
  • Proven ability to develop sales plans and strategies
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service and relationship management skills
  • Strong negotiation and contract execution skills
  • Knowledge of market trends, competitors, and economic factors

Job Duties

  • Proactively solicit group and catering business
  • Handle large group and customer segment opportunities with significant revenue potential
  • Upsell packages and creative food and beverage offerings to maximize revenue
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers through sales calls, entertainment, fam trips, and trade shows
  • Develop effective group and catering sales plans and proposals
  • Negotiate contracts and close business deals using creative selling abilities
  • Execute and support operational aspects of booked business, including proposal generation and customer correspondence
