The role of Senior Catering Cook at Virginia Wesleyan University is a full-time position with a competitive hourly pay range of $18.00 to $24.00. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum four years of relevant cooking experience
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and food preparation procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Open availability preferred
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Team-oriented and adaptable

  • Minimum of four years related work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of advanced cooking techniques
  • Experience in supervising and training staff

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Follow complex recipes and/or product directions
  • Produce small to large batch goods using advanced and full range of classical and contemporary cooking, plating and garnishing techniques
  • Oversee the production staff, train, and assign tasks
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned, depending on business necessities and client requirements
