Job Description
ABM (NYSE: ABM) is one of the world’s largest providers of facility services and solutions, committed to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. Established in 1909, ABM has grown into a comprehensive service provider that offers a wide range of essential services designed to enhance spaces that matter most — from commercial office buildings and hospitals to airports and entertainment venues. With over 100,000 team members and more than 350 offices across the United States, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and other international locations, ABM serves over 20,000 clients with an annualized revenue nearing $8 billion. ABM’s portfolio includes janitorial, engineering, parking, electrical and lighting, energy and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, HVAC and mechanical, landscape and turf, and mission-critical solutions. The company's legacy and commitment to excellence have made it a trusted partner in facility services across numerous industries.
The Business Development Manager role at ABM focuses on expanding new and potential accounts specifically in non-acute healthcare, medical office, commercial, and industrial sectors within a designated territory. This position is integral to growing ABM’s footprint in providing multifunctional facility services including Cleaning, Environmental, Parking, and Engineering. The Business Development Manager engages with prospective clients to analyze their current facility services programs, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and subsequently tailoring sales and marketing strategies to propose comprehensive bundled solutions. This strategic approach aims to not only secure new business but also foster long-term partnerships.
In addition to developing and executing effective sales plans, the Business Development Manager collaborates closely with ABM’s operations teams to ensure seamless implementation and excellent delivery of service commitments. This role demands ownership of the strategic selling process, strong communication of ABM’s value proposition, and the ability to resolve client issues proactively. Managing relationships is crucial as the individual cross-sells ABM’s extensive facilities services lines, strengthening client loyalty and expanding service adoption. The role also involves maintaining territory intelligence by understanding healthcare-specific facility needs and staying abreast of competitive intelligence.
Successful candidates will thrive in a goal-driven environment where prospecting, networking, cold calling, and follow-up strategies are essential. The role requires expertise in creating compelling proposals, responding to requests for proposals (RFPs), negotiating contracts, and managing smooth transitions to operations. A hunter sales mentality — marked by self-motivation and results orientation — is key to excelling. Advanced computer skills, especially in MS Office and Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, are necessary to efficiently manage multiple prospects and remain organized.
ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package, and the role provides an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in service sales, particularly in facility services or healthcare environments, to contribute to a growing and dynamic company. This role is not only about sales but about becoming a thought leader within healthcare facility services and building a broad network of industry professionals, strategic partners, and community influencers. This is a remarkable chance for those who are passionate about facility services and business development to leverage their skills to drive growth and innovation at ABM.
