The Senior Banquet Manager role is an integral leadership position within the Food & Beverage department at the Hawaii Convention Center, one of the venues where Legends Global operates. This salaried, exempt position focuses on managing all banquet and catered event operations with a keen eye towards service excellence, operational efficiency, and team performance. The role entails end-to-end management of banquet operations, making sure large and complex events are executed flawlessly. The Senior Banquet Manager leads, mentors, and coaches banquet leadership staff, including captains and supervisors, ensuring that all service standards meet the exceptionally high expectations of guests and clients. This role collaborates closely with the departments of Culinary, Catering Sales, and Event Management to ensure seamless event delivery. The Manager is responsible for directing pre-function meetings, managing floor operations during events, and swiftly addressing any last-minute changes or client needs. They also maintain strict oversight of banquet spaces to ensure they are exquisitely prepared, maintained, and reset as required.

In addition to operational leadership, the Senior Banquet Manager provides vital team leadership and development responsibilities. This includes overseeing staffing plans, scheduling, training, and performance management of banquet team members. Fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement is emphasized, encouraging a team environment that consistently delivers service excellence. Cross-functional collaboration with various departments ensures logistical coordination and operational fluidity. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hospitality business or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive banquet or food and beverage management experience preferably in a convention center hotel or high-volume venue
  • Demonstrated experience leading large teams and executing complex high-volume events
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays based on event demands
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume fast-paced convention center environment
  • Occasional travel as needed

Job Duties

  • Lead and oversee all banquet operations ensuring flawless execution of events ranging from small meetings to large-scale conventions and high-volume functions
  • Direct pre-function meetings ensuring all service staff are aligned on event details timing and service standards
  • Manage floor operations during events proactively addressing last-minute changes service recovery and client needs
  • Ensure all banquet spaces are set maintained and reset to the highest standards
  • Provide leadership coaching and mentorship to Banquet Captains Supervisors and service staff
  • Oversee staffing plans scheduling and labor deployment to align with business needs and productivity targets
  • Lead hiring onboarding training and performance management for banquet team members
  • Foster a culture of accountability service excellence and continuous improvement
  • Partner closely with Catering Sales and Event Managers to review BEOs and ensure accurate execution of all event details
  • Collaborate with Culinary Stewarding Engineering and Security teams to coordinate logistics and service delivery
  • Participate in daily weekly operational meetings to align on upcoming events and priorities
  • Manage labor and operational costs ensuring efficiency while maintaining service quality
  • Monitor food and beverage costs waste and inventory levels to meet profitability targets
  • Oversee banquet equipment linen inventory and supply requisitions
  • Review and validate guest checks billing accuracy and cash handling procedures
  • Maintain and enforce service standards policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular inspections of banquet areas ensuring cleanliness safety and readiness
  • Ensure compliance with health safety and local liquor regulations
  • Monitor staff appearance service execution and adherence to brand standards
  • Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery streamline processes and improve guest satisfaction
  • Implement new standards systems and best practices to elevate banquet operations
  • Lead post-event reviews and gather feedback to continuously improve performance
