Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related professional area
  • or 2-year degree from an accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration, or related major
  • 1 year experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing or related professional area
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to lead and motivate a team
  • proficient in managing banquet operations
  • knowledge of applicable laws related to event management
  • excellent customer service skills
  • capability to handle guest complaints
  • ability to plan and conduct training
  • experience in financial and inventory control
  • attendance at departmental meetings
  • commitment to safety and emergency procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 3 years experience in event management, food and beverage, or related area
  • or 2-year degree from accredited university in hotel and restaurant management, hospitality, business administration or related major with 1 year experience
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • knowledge of banquet operations and event laws
  • ability to manage financial aspects and inventory
  • excellent customer service orientation
  • experience in staff training and development
  • familiarity with food and wine pairings and current event trends
  • proficient in problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • capable of working in high-pressure environments

Job Duties

  • Directs and motivates event management team
  • monitors and controls financial and administrative responsibilities including asset protection
  • communicates clearly and concisely with all stakeholders
  • identifies training opportunities and plans strategy to accomplish goals
  • manages banquet operations including projecting supply needs and adhering to laws
  • schedules banquet service staff for optimal profits
  • develops lasting client relationships to retain and grow business
  • leads departmental meetings and delegates tasks
  • applies knowledge of food, wine pairings, and current event trends
  • acts as liaison with kitchen staff
  • participates in servicing events
  • sets examples for exceptional customer service
  • interacts with guests to obtain feedback
  • responds to guest problems and complaints
  • empowers staff to deliver excellent service
  • ensures employees understand expectations
