Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized hospitality company committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences across a wide portfolio of brands. Among its prestigious luxury brands is JW Marriott, which includes more than 100 properties in prominent gateway cities and unique resort locations around the world. Marriott International prides itself on fostering an inclusive work environment where associates of diverse backgrounds are valued and empowered. At JW Marriott, the philosophy "The JW Treatment" emphasizes that happy associates lead to happy guests, creating a culture of confidence, innovation, and genuine service. JW Marriott locations provide opportunities for training, development, recognition, and a supportive environment for pursuing one's passions while focusing on holistic well-being.
This specific role is a full-time Management position based at the JW Marriott property located at 151 W Adams St, Chicago, Illinois. The position comes with an annual salary range between $89,000 and $111,000, with eligibility for bonuses. The role primarily involves directing and motivating a banquet operations team to deliver high-quality event services. This extends to handling financial and administrative duties such as asset protection and maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and standards. The Manager is responsible for ensuring clear communications with all stakeholders to guarantee successful event execution.
As the Banquet Operations Manager, you will oversee the forecasting of supplies needed for events, including china, glass, silverware, buffet presentations, and props. A deep understanding of the impact of banquet operations on event success is crucial, as is adherence to established sanitation, safety, and service standards. You will manage departmental inventories, equipment maintenance, and liquor cost controls through careful record-keeping. Scheduling banquet staff efficiently to meet service standards and maximize profitability will be a key part of your responsibilities.
The role also entails leading and developing banquet teams by setting goals, delegating tasks, conducting monthly meetings, and fostering expertise in current food, wine pairings, and culinary trends. You will act as the liaison between the banquet and kitchen staff, ensuring seamless service delivery, and actively participate in event servicing as needed.
Exceptional customer service forms the backbone of this position. You will set a positive example for guest relations, engage with guests to gather feedback, address complaints diplomatically, and empower your team to uphold these high standards. Continuous service improvement through staff training, feedback sessions, and reviewing guest satisfaction metrics will be part of your duties.
Moreover, the position includes human resources activities such as communicating emergency procedures, training staff in safety protocols, providing employee performance feedback, and leading corrective action plans when necessary. Active participation in departmental and property-wide meetings will ensure your alignment with overall objectives and continuous service excellence.
Joining JW Marriott offers a unique opportunity to work within a luxury hospitality environment that not only emphasizes guest satisfaction but also prioritizes the well-being and career growth of its associates. If you are passionate about event management, possess leadership skills, and seek to contribute to an innovative and supportive team, this role is an ideal fit.
