The Sales Solution Architect (SA) role at RapidScale plays a crucial part in bridging the technical and sales divisions by supporting opportunities primarily along the East coast. This full-time position requires 25-35% travel to conferences, partner offices, and customer sites, making it an engaging, dynamic role for professionals who thrive in collaborative, customer-facing environments. The SA acts as a pivotal member of the Sales Solutions Architecture Team by partnering closely with Sales Representatives. The team’s main mission is to understand and solve clients' cloud initiatives by providing expert technical insights throughout the sales lifecycle – from initial outreach to solution deployment.

This role demands a consultative approach during the discovery and assessment stages, where detailed workshops and evaluations help identify clients' pain points and tailor cloud solutions with reliability, performance, and security baked in. The Sales Solution Architect designs systems purpose-built for their intended infrastructure while clearly communicating solutions for early validation by internal teams responsible for implementation and ongoing support. The role goes beyond technical mastery, requiring the individual to be a technology evangelist and educator, fostering deeper client understanding of cloud strategies that align with business objectives. Additionally, the SA contributes valuable feedback on products and services to marketing and product teams, while also helping create technical collateral, cost estimates, and statements of work to support sales processes. Participation in industry events and thought leadership activities such as trade shows, panels, and content creation further enhance the impact and visibility of the role.

Offering a competitive salary range of $155,200 to $232,800 annually plus an annual incentive/commission target of $52,800, RapidScale ensures that its Sales Solution Architects are well compensated for their expertise and business impact. Job Requirements

  • Relevant industry-leading certification required: AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect - Expert)
  • Deep understanding of public cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and AWS
  • Understanding of containerization and virtualization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Knowledge of IAAS, PAAS, SAAS platforms including EC2, VMs
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Puppet, Ansible, ARM/Bicep, Terraform
  • Understanding of disaster recovery and data protection principles
  • Familiarity with PCI, HIPAA, GDPR regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases including MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, and NoSQL
  • Expertise in networking, compute, storage and operating system fundamentals
  • Enthusiastic self-starter comfortable with dynamic environments and rapidly expanding customer bases

Job Qualifications

  • A BA/BS degree with 6+ years of experience, or a MS degree with 4+ years of experience, or a Ph.D. with one year of experience, or 10 years of overall experience without a degree
  • Professional level public cloud certification (AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Background and experience working in the context of a sales team
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability
  • High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal organizations
  • Ability to speak at public events in front of large audiences is a bonus
  • Fluency in English

Job Duties

  • Provide pre-sales technical support to the GTM team to drive revenue and cloud adoption
  • Conduct full technical discovery and assessment workshops to identify pain points and gather business and technical requirements
  • Architect client solutions to meet client requirements using a well architected framework methodology
  • Clearly communicate proposed architectures in the pre-sales cycle for early validation and verification to internal teams
  • Be a technology evangelist and educate prospects and customers on cloud solutions aligned with business needs
  • Interface with product marketing and provide feedback for product improvement
  • Collaborate in creation of technical collateral such as statements of work and high level designs
  • Produce cost and labor estimates and statements of work for potential projects
  • Provide thought leadership by speaking at industry events and publishing content
