The Senior Assembler role at Oshkosh AeroTech is an integral position within their manufacturing division. This role involves assembling mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components to create industrial assemblies that adhere strictly to product and customer specifications. Using a variety of hand tools, powered tools, and material handling equipment, the Senior Assembler plays a critical role in maintaining the high standards synonymous with the Oshkosh brand.
This position requires someone with extensive experience in mechanical assembly, able to interpret detailed blueprints and technical documentation to ensure precision and accuracy throughout the assembly process. The Senior Assembler is also responsible for providing guidance and training to other associates, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. By identifying and implementing improvements in product build processes and work center layouts, this role contributes directly to achieving key performance indicators related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
The successful candidate will show strong problem-solving skills, able to troubleshoot assembly challenges and coordinate with support departments to implement corrective actions. Active participation in team-based daily management and problem-solving initiatives is expected, alongside adherence to standardized work procedures and safety practices. The ability to self-audit and inspect work using drawings and checklists ensures consistency and quality of output.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 10+ years experience in mechanical assembly
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
- Proficiency in using mechanical and electrical tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Decision-making skills for sequencing operations and setups
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED)
- 10+ years experience with medium/heavy mechanical assembly
- Demonstrated performance of thorough understanding of blueprints and technical documentation
- Ability to operate mechanical and electrical tooling
- Attention to detail, quality and safety
- Ability to use judgment to perform and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures
Job Duties
- Provide work center guidance and training of other associates
- Identify and implement solutions for improved product build process, design or work center layout
- Assist Value Stream Leadership in ensuring work center or business goals are achieved measured by Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost key performance indicators
- Use and interpret blueprints, product specifications and technical specifications
- Understand and demonstrate performance of multiple work center requirements and manufacturing disciplines
- Troubleshoot and problem solve assembly challenges and work with support departments to create corrective action
- Active participation in team daily management and problem solving
