The Senior Area Executive Chef role at Sodexo Universities is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing culinary operations across this multi-state region, which involves approximately 75 percent travel. It is an influential role designed for a culinary expert who is passionate about innovation, quality, and team development. This senior position entails leading multiple culinary teams to provide outstanding dining experiences that align with Sodexo's high standards and the expectations of university clients. The Senior Area Executive Chef drives the creation and execution of innovative, trend-forward menus while utilizing sustainable and local ingredients to meet the tastes and health considerations of diverse campus communities.

Key responsibilities include managing culinary teams across various campuses, supporting VIP and presidential catering events, and ensuring adherence to stringent food safety and sanitation standards. The executive chef collaborates closely with operational leadership to enhance food quality, presentation, and overall service. Additionally, she or he will oversee purchasing, menu compliance, inventory control, food cost analysis, and production forecasting to ensure financial targets and culinary excellence are met consistently. This role requires a capable leader able to inspire and mentor culinary professionals, foster creativity, and maintain consistency in culinary delivery across all sites within the region.

Ideal candidates bring significant experience in managing high-volume culinary operations, preferably within university settings, demonstrating strong client engagement skills and financial acumen. A Certified Executive Chef (CEC) designation is preferred. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum 5 years of management experience
  • minimum 3 years of functional culinary experience
  • ability to travel approximately 75 percent of the time
  • excellent leadership and communication skills
  • knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
  • working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead and inspire culinary teams across multiple locations
  • create innovative, trend-forward menus using sustainable and local ingredients

  • partner with operations teams to elevate food quality, presentation, and service
  • ensure strong food safety standards and financial performance across accounts
  • be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting
  • ensure Sodexo Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented
  • have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary innovations
  • ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance
  • have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems
