Job Description

Landmark, a Halliburton company, is a global leader in providing innovative software and data solutions tailored for the energy industry. With a strong focus on enhancing decision-making processes, Landmark develops a comprehensive suite of products spanning subsurface interpretation, well construction planning, reservoir simulation, and digital operations. These advanced tools are utilized daily by engineers and scientists at the world's leading energy corporations, enabling efficient and informed operational choices. Halliburton, being one of the world's largest providers of products and services to the energy sector, empowers Landmark with extensive resources, a global footprint, and a commitment to technological excellence. Landmark's Engineering organization is responsible for the underlying infrastructure, cloud operations, and deployment frameworks, ensuring that the company's extensive product portfolio is accessible worldwide. This delivery is configured not only in cloud environments but also at customer sites and in locations with limited or no connectivity, reflecting the company's adaptable and resilient architecture strategies.

The Senior Architect role at Landmark is a pivotal position within the Engineering organization. This role involves designing and evolving the architecture for Landmark's platform and its suite of applications. Unlike platform delivery managers who focus on team management and delivery schedules, the Senior Architect's core responsibility is architectural ownership. This means defining and maintaining architectural diagrams, documentation, and decision records that guide the development process. The role requires active participation in Landmark's architecture community, collaborating with other architects to promote consistent architectural practices and ensure teams adhere to best practices. Responsibilities also include reviewing application designs to enforce platform usage standards and supporting the alignment of architecture across diverse teams.

This position demands deep technical expertise and broad experience, particularly in building performant, resilient, and scalable solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure. The Senior Architect will leverage full stack development skills, including expertise in React or Angular for frontend solutions, relational and unstructured database modeling, and knowledge of various computing paradigms such as microservices, Kubernetes, lambdas/functions, distributed, and GPU computing. Familiarity with AI/ML technologies is also important given the increasing role of intelligent systems in the energy sector. The role encourages candidates with a background in both cloud environments and energy industries like oil and gas, although Landmark welcomes applicants from all disciplines who demonstrate the capability to innovate and lead.

Landmark prioritizes small, high-ownership teams and invests significantly in employee growth, providing a collaborative environment where product strategies are co-created by engineers, product management, and domain scientists. This ensures that technology solutions are not only innovative but also customer-centric, allowing users to maintain control over critical decisions. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, complemented by a robust benefits package aligned with Halliburton’s commitment to supporting employees’ physical, emotional, financial, and parental needs. The company promotes diversity and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, gender identity, age, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

Located in Houston, Texas, the Senior Architect role is a full-time position within the Landmark Software and Services product service line. This opportunity offers a clear career path with visible progression to roles such as Principal Architect, supported by executive sponsorship from the CTO and involvement in enterprise-wide architectural commitments. Landmark’s architecture community plays an essential role in shaping strategic decisions and delivering competitive software solutions that empower global energy customers.
