This position offers an hourly pay rate of $33 to $35 and includes a Monday through Friday schedule with dispatch times between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Shifts may extend up to 14 hours and can involve a one-day layover. The role of Driver, Dedicated Backhaul, is integral to the food supply chain, ensuring products reach customers safely, timely, and in good condition. Drivers are the face of the company and play a crucial role in building and maintaining customer relationships. The position requires operating tractor-trailers (day cab or sleeper), tandem trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. Responsibilities include transporting logistics loads, food, and non-food products, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver will handle local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes, delivering and unloading products efficiently and engaging professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers.

Specific job duties include driving assigned routes to supplier/vendor and PFG warehouse locations, managing load pickups and deliveries, performing load and paperwork inspections such as product counts and invoice verifications, and ensuring compliance with all operational and safety standards. Drivers are expected to communicate actively with supervisors regarding route confirmations, load statuses, schedule changes, and any issues that arise. The role also entails securing equipment and completing all necessary documentation at the end of shifts, with additional duties assigned as needed to support the company’s mission and customer satisfaction goals. Through these responsibilities, the driver contributes to the broader effort of maintaining America’s food distribution system with efficiency and reliability.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday
  • Ability to be away from home 2 days of the week
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ Months commercial driving experience
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday
  • Ability to be away from home 2 days of the week
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)

  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
  • product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location

Job Duties

  • Drive to assigned supplier/vendor and/or PFG warehouse locations according to a predetermined route and delivery schedule
  • Deliver assigned loads back to PFG warehouse locations for receiving into inventory
  • Perform appropriate load and paperwork inspections including but not limited to product counts, invoices of products that have been loaded, quality checks and other related items as required
  • Check and complete in an accurate and legible fashion all the required paperwork associated with backhaul operations
  • Routinely check in with direct supervisor to confirm route, load, and schedule
  • Advise direct supervisor of load drop-off/pick-up issues, schedule changes and other related information
  • At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
