Security System Lead Technician

Tusker is currently seeking a dedicated Lead Security System Technician to join their team. This position plays a critical role in the installation and commissioning of electronic security systems, overseeing projects from inception to completion while maintaining alignment with the company’s high standards. Reporting directly to the Manager of Physical Security, the Lead Security System Technician will lead project sites, supervise assigned technicians, and actively participate in the physical installation and programming of security devices. This full-time role offers an hourly wage of up to $30 and requires regular in-person attendance at project sites.

The Lead Security System Technician will be responsible for interpreting system design drawings, floor plans, and construction documents with precision to ensure accurate installation and commissioning. Tasks include mounting and wiring cameras, card readers, door hardware, intrusion panels, power supplies, and cabling, as well as testing and commissioning head-end equipment such as racks, servers, switches, patch panels, and controllers. The technician will also engage in programming within access control and video management platforms, with proficiency in systems such as Verkada, Avigilon, Milestone, Hanwha, Axis, HID, and Mercury.

This position demands a proactive individual skilled in troubleshooting issues related to cabling, power, and device communication. The Lead Security System Technician will be expected to provide regular project updates, maintain thorough documentation for as-builts and system labeling, and ensure all systems are fully tested and commissioned per the defined scope. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior technicians, emphasizing professional development within the team, and serving as a trusted resource for technical guidance.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership skills, clear communication abilities both technical and non-technical, and a commitment to workmanship and continuous improvement. They must demonstrate professionalism in customer-facing situations and maintain accountability, punctuality, and ownership of their assigned responsibilities. Regular travel within a 60-mile radius of various client sites is expected, with occasional overnight travel required to meet specific deadlines.
