The Loss Prevention Supervisor role at Starwood Hotels is a vital position responsible for overseeing daily loss prevention operations within the hotel environment. This role ensures the safety and security of guests, team members, and property assets by providing leadership and guidance to Loss Prevention Officers. The supervisor is accountable for managing shift operations, supporting incident responses and investigations, and maintaining a visible presence throughout the property. This leadership role not only involves enforcing company policies and procedures but also demands a strong commitment to service excellence and operational integrity.
As a Loss Prevention Supervisor, you will act as a key figure in maintaining a secure and safe hotel environment. Your responsibilities include supervising and directing loss prevention personnel during scheduled shifts, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage, and enforcing post orders and operational assignments. You will conduct regular property patrols, monitor officer performance, and respond proactively to security incidents. This role requires you to manage emergency situations, coordinate with hotel leadership on guest and team member concerns, and enforce safety protocols effectively.
Additionally, the Loss Prevention Supervisor collaborates closely with other hotel departments, including Engineering, Housekeeping, and Front Office, to ensure cohesive security measures across the property. You will be responsible for maintaining access control, overseeing vendor and visitor access, and safeguarding restricted areas. You also ensure Lost and Found procedures are properly documented and assist with crowd control during special events and VIP movements.
The role demands excellent leadership skills to foster teamwork, accountability, and professionalism within the loss prevention team. You will provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team preparedness and performance. Candidates for this role must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably have prior experience in loss prevention, security, or law enforcement, with supervisory experience highly desirable. Luxury hotel or resort experience is strongly preferred. The role requires certification or the ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, and Alcohol Awareness certifications as well as any necessary state or local security licenses. Strong communication skills, sound decision-making under pressure, and a high level of integrity and discretion are essential to succeed in this dynamic position.

Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Supervise, support, and direct Loss Prevention Officers and assigned teams during scheduled shifts
- ensure proper staffing levels, post coverage, and adherence to post orders and operational assignments
- maintain a visible presence throughout the property by conducting regular patrols of public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior grounds
- monitor officer performance to ensure professional conduct, proper appearance, and compliance with service and safety standards
- respond to calls for service, assess situations, coordinate appropriate responses, and communicate status updates to leadership
- maintain command and control of all safety, security, and emergency incidents and scenes
- address guest and team member concerns promptly, professionally, and with discretion, coordinating with hotel leadership as needed
- ensure appropriate response to incidents involving disturbances, medical emergencies, safety hazards, theft, or policy violations
- assist with investigations, incident documentation, witness statements, and evidence collection in accordance with company procedures
- complete detailed shift reports, incident reports, logs, and administrative documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- issue counseling, coaching, and progressive discipline documentation as appropriate and in accordance with policy
- maintain open communication with management regarding incidents, employee concerns, trends, and operational issues
- act as the senior point of contact in the absence of Loss Prevention management and assume delegated responsibilities as required
- collaborate with Engineering, Housekeeping and Front Office teams to ensure property-wide security alignment
- monitor access control, team member compliance, vendor and visitor access, and restricted-area security
- ensure Lost and Found procedures are followed and properly documented
- assist with crowd control, special events, VIP movements, and high-traffic periods
- actively communicate company updates, policy changes, occupancy levels, and special event information to the team
- provide ongoing training, coaching, and development opportunities to enhance officer performance and preparedness
- foster teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive work environment
- follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
- report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries
- complete required safety training and certifications
