Job Description
ESPN's Global Security & Safety department is dedicated to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of all ESPN employees, guests, and assets worldwide. As part of a leading global sports media company, ESPN operates numerous owned and leased facilities, as well as remote event locations. This department provides comprehensive security and safety services that are crucial for maintaining a secure environment across all these venues. Being part of ESPN means contributing to a dynamic work environment where safety and security are prioritized to protect the company’s valuable resources and personnel.
The Security Officer role within this department is pivotal for upholding these high standards. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for a variety of duties aimed at safeguarding ESPN's facilities and ensuring a safe environment for everyone on-site. This includes greeting and screening visitors according to established procedures and enforcing company security and parking policies consistently and fairly. You will be tasked with identifying and reporting safety and security hazards to prevent incidents and securing property as needed.
A significant part of the role involves specialized duties such as completing and issuing hot work permits, conducting inspections, and performing fire watch assignments in designated hot work areas to maintain high safety standards at ESPN facilities. Additionally, you will provide general information to visitors and employees, conduct regular security system checks, and control access at high-traffic exterior posts. Vehicle inspections and truck inspections for all deliveries are integral to the job, ensuring that all incoming items and personnel meet security protocols.
Certified X-ray package and mail screening will be performed to guarantee that no dangerous items enter ESPN facilities. In emergency situations, you will play a critical role by supervising the fire alarm control panel, interpreting alarms accurately, and responding swiftly within a three-minute window to resolve issues. You will also assist with scheduling maintenance for fleet vehicles and provide security presence at special events both on and off-campus.
Additional responsibilities include managing barricades, operating gates, directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic, and completing special assignments such as assisting the Command Post and Global Operations Center. This position demands a proactive and professional individual who can manage multiple tasks independently, remain calm under pressure, and deliver excellent customer service consistently.
This role requires you to work the second shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM with Thursdays and Fridays off, although schedules may be subject to change based on operational needs. Note that there is no light-duty status; you must be fully capable of performing all duties assigned. The position is based in Bristol, CT, with a hiring range of $44,700 to $59,800 per year. Compensation decisions consider internal equity, geographic region, experience, and skills. In addition to base pay, bonuses or long-term incentive units may be part of the overall package, along with comprehensive medical, financial, and other benefits that support your well-being and professional growth.
Joining ESPN means becoming part of a team committed not only to excellence in sports broadcasting but also to creating a secure and welcoming environment for all. Disney offers a competitive rewards package that includes health and savings benefits, educational opportunities, and unique perks only available as part of this global brand. If you are looking to contribute your security expertise in a vibrant, fast-paced setting while advancing your career, this role at ESPN offers an outstanding opportunity to be a vital part of the story.
