The role of the Security Representative at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a full-time, permanent position focused on ensuring the safety and security of all visitors, employees, and the museum's assets. This crucial role blends customer service excellence with vigilant security monitoring to create a safe, enjoyable, and seamless museum experience. The Security Representative is responsible for delivering superior visitor service by greeting and assisting guests, providing accurate and helpful information about exhibits, facilities, ticketing, and local attractions, and quickly resolving visitor concerns. Beyond guest services, the position entails active monitoring of the museum's galleries, plazas, and exterior grounds to detect any suspicious activity, respond to emergencies, and enforce museum policies.

Security Representatives at the Rock Hall are trained to handle emergency situations, assist injured or unruly individuals, and coordinate with emergency medical services when necessary. They may be tasked with managing communications in the Security Office, including radio dispatch, fire suppression systems, and record-keeping related to incidents and daily activities. The role demands acute attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the physical ability to patrol extensively throughout indoor and outdoor museum areas under various weather conditions. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year experience in customer-facing security and/or asset protection
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Appreciation of rock and roll and/or music history
  • First-aid and CPR training helpful
  • Bilingual capabilities strongly preferred
  • Ability to successfully pass reference check and background investigation
  • Ability to wear complete uniform including earphones/radio headset
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work in a windowless office and environments with loud noise
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift/move items up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to hear and visually assess safety situations
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs
  • Ability to bend and extend body movements
  • Ability to perform tasks concurrently
  • Ability to walk and stand most of the time

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Provide superior service using Fans First principles and information to visitors
  • Welcome, assist, and direct visitors in an exceptionally courteous manner
  • Provide information to visitors on exhibits, facilities, ticketing, policies and procedures, parking, directions, local accommodations, and attractions
  • Assist to resolve visitor complaints quickly and effectively
  • Assist visitors needing special accommodations
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas both internal and external, including moving stanchions or other objects to maintain traffic flow or assist with removal of snow or placement of snow melting substances
  • Assist to control visitor traffic flow and queue visitors in accordance with museum visitor regulations
  • Patrol assigned areas including galleries, plaza areas, exterior grounds, exterior doors and loading dock, Key Plaza, and Key Plaza valet/turn-around area for theft, vandalism, injured or unruly individuals
  • Report any problems to Security Manager or supervisor on duty
  • Politely inform visitors about museum rules including no smoking, touching exhibits, and no picture taking
  • Provide escorts to employees as needed or requested
  • Provide visitors and employees with assistance in emergency situations
  • Help investigate accidents or other emergency incidents and assist with completing incident reports
  • Act as liaison to EMS/paramedics
  • Manage the fire suppression system
  • Responsible for radio dispatch and communications
  • Maintain accurate shift and radio log of all daily activities
  • Maintain accurate and systematic incident report filing system
  • Assist all co-employees as requested
