Job Description

Walgreens is a well-established leader in the retail pharmacy industry, with a rich history dating back to 1901. Serving nearly 9 million customers and patients daily through approximately 8,500 stores across the United States and Puerto Rico, Walgreens is committed to enhancing the health and wellbeing of the communities it serves. The company employs around 220,000 team members, including close to 90,000 healthcare service providers, and is dedicated to becoming the first choice for retail pharmacy and health services. Walgreens combines trusted relationships, cutting-edge technology, and omni-channel platforms to deliver convenient, high-quality care experiences for its customers and patients.

This role offers an opportunity to join the Walgreens Global Security Operations Center (SOC), playing a critical part in maintaining the safety and security of company assets, employees, and customers. The position entails triaging and responding to emergency situations 24/7, utilizing a variety of intelligence and data sources to detect and mitigate risks. The SOC is a dynamic environment requiring vigilance and quick, accurate decision-making in response to fire, security, and safety alarms, as well as incidents reported through phone, email, or social media. The Security Operations Specialist provides vital support to emergency response and recovery efforts by coordinating with law enforcement, fire departments, internal resources, and service providers.

The role also involves continuous monitoring and analysis of intelligence across government sources, news outlets, and social media to identify potential threats ranging from social unrest and natural disasters to infrastructure disruptions and travel-related risks. This proactive approach helps protect Walgreens’ operations globally and ensures the wellbeing of employee travelers both domestically and internationally.

Working at Walgreens SOC means operating within established guidelines such as those defined by the National Fire Protection Association and UL Certification policies to sustain operational standards and meet annual inspection requirements. The professional in this role will also contribute to ongoing improvements in procedures and customer service quality. Shift work is a fundamental part of the job, as the SOC operates 24/7, requiring work during after-hours, weekends, and holidays.

Walgreens offers competitive pay ranging from $26.00 to $30.00 per hour and an array of comprehensive benefits, supporting employees’ professional growth and personal wellbeing. This security-focused position provides valuable experience in a highly reputable company renowned for its community impact and commitment to health services.
