The Security Officer role at Care New England is vital for ensuring a safe and secure environment throughout its hospital campuses and facilities. This position involves patrolling hospital buildings and grounds, enforcing procedural rules, and safeguarding the wellbeing of patients, visitors, staff, and hospital property. The Security Officer must be knowledgeable about the hospital layout, including departments, buildings, access routes, and admission processes. Responsibilities also include responding swiftly to emergency situations, investigating security incidents, maintaining clear communication with hospital personnel, and documenting all occurrences thoroughly.
Beyond traditional security duties, this role encompasses logistical support responsibilities such as scheduling patient transportation services like LaVan and Oncology ride services, overseeing hospital vehicle maintenance, and assisting with deliveries. The Security Officer provides escort services to personnel for safe access to parking and other hospital sites, supports administrative functions by maintaining records and compiling reports, and protects the confidentiality of sensitive hospital information. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are crucial as the role requires providing courteous assistance and information to visitors and staff.
The ideal candidate for this position holds at least a high school diploma or GED, possesses 1-3 years of relevant experience, and maintains a valid State driver's license. - Patrols hospital buildings and grounds including garages and parking areas
- verifies vehicles for authorized parking stickers and issues parking violations
- opens and secures off-site facilities
- reports security and maintenance problems
- permits authorized personnel entry and controls keys
- operates and monitors security control panels, alarms and equipment
- maintains radio communication with security team
- responds to emergency hospital codes and investigates security situations
- calls law enforcement when necessary
- manages control alarms and replenishes security supplies
- processes inmate patients according to policy
- interprets policies accurately and makes sound decisions
- verifies ID cards for facility admission
- provides information, directions and escorts
- notifies supervisors of significant incidents
- maintains and inputs logs and records of occurrences

- performs infant car seat installation, tire changes, and jump starts if certified
