Job Description

Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, is a premier destination providing a unique blend of Disney magic and Hawaiian culture. Located in Hawaii, this resort caters to guests seeking an unforgettable experience characterized by exceptional service, beautiful surroundings, and a variety of recreational activities. As part of the Disney family, Aulani upholds the highest standards of safety, security, and guest satisfaction. The establishment offers a full spectrum of employee benefits, including 100 percent healthcare coverage for employees and eligible dependents, tuition paid upfront at network schools, complimentary lunch and parking, and free admission to Disney theme parks. These perks emphasize Aulani's commitment to maintaining a supportive and enriching workplace for its cast members.

The Security Host/Hostess at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, plays a vital role in ensuring that all guests, staff, and vendors can enjoy their time safely within the resort's premises. This position is not just about maintaining security but also about creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the spirit of Disney while managing potential incidents discreetly and professionally. The Security Host/Hostess operates as a first responder, trained in various emergency procedures such as Infant, Child, and Adult CPR, use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), Stop the Bleed techniques, and fire extinguisher use, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle any emergencies efficiently and calmly.

The role involves conducting thorough interior and exterior patrols of the resort to identify and address undesirable conditions proactively. Security Hosts/Hostesses must possess excellent judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations requiring thoughtful evaluation and action. Duties include conducting investigations by evaluating scenes, interviewing complainants and witnesses, and collaborating with the appropriate personnel to resolve security issues. Detailed documentation and report writing are crucial components of this position, ensuring that all incidents are accurately recorded and addressed.

Maintaining order and a sense of safety within the resort is essential while simultaneously attending to the needs of guests, employees, and vendors with professionalism and courtesy. The position demands interaction with advanced security technologies such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) monitoring and specialized consoles for communication and incident response. Additional responsibilities include managing resort policies and civil law enforcement, cash escorting for cashiers, issue of visitor and contractor badges, key assistance, lost and found property management, and guest escort duties.

Candidates for this role must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid State of Hawaii Guard Card. The ideal candidate will have experience relevant to being a first responder, such as hotel or resort security, military training, loss prevention, or high-pressure emergency roles like EMT or firefighter. Strong verbal, written, and technology skills are essential, alongside a minimum typing speed of 25 words per minute. The ability to perform general clerical tasks using Microsoft Office and other resort-specific software is expected. Knowledge of the resort layout, self-direction, and keen observation skills are also critical.

Preferred qualifications for this position include an Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Private Investigations, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, or Emergency Medical Services. Familiarity with Hawaiian laws especially related to resort environments, and proficiency in Hawaiian or Japanese languages, is considered advantageous.

The role requires full-time availability across seven days a week, including early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the 24/7 nature of security operations at a premier resort. The starting pay rate for this position is $29.00 per hour, though the actual compensation may vary depending on factors like location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
