The role of Director of Security at Titan Security involves managing security operations at a major public venue located in Chicago's Central Business District, an iconic cultural institution. This leadership position requires a seasoned professional with substantial experience interacting with local Chicago law enforcement as well as managing contracted security staff. The Director of Security will oversee all aspects of physical, personnel, and visitor security, alongside life safety. Key responsibilities include strategic planning and the implementation of comprehensive safety protocols such as emergency preparedness plans, bomb threat responses, and disaster recovery procedures.
This role also features significant collaboration with City of Chicago officials, onsite management teams, and emergency response units, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards including city, state, OSHA, and NFPA codes. The Director will oversee emergency drills, evacuations, and fire safety initiatives, provide training to security personnel, and maintain rigorous compliance and audit programs. This position demands expertise in modern security technologies such as electronic access controls, CCTV, and central station monitoring systems.
In addition to operational management duties, the Director will engage in investigations, threat assessments, and liaison activities with law enforcement and various security organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the FBI, and the ASIS International Security Organization. Job Requirements
- Degree in criminal justice, law enforcement management or related field and/or equivalent experience/education preferred
- minimum of seven years of managerial and policy making experience in the law enforcement or contract security field
- ability to obtain a valid PERC
- ability to create and manage budgets, budget variance reports and other reports in Excel
- ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- ability to work outside of the regular schedule, including on weekends
- ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- must maintain a working telephone number for contact
Job Qualifications

- extensive internal contacts within the local law enforcement community
- ability to obtain a valid PERC
- professional certifications in security management, CPP or similar certifications preferred

- experience with workforce management systems and scheduling systems preferred
- ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- bi-lingual considered a plus
- excellent communication, organizational, financial and time management skills
- ability to concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise on policy to ownership and management
- ability to work outside of the regular schedule, including on weekends, as needed

Job Duties
- Manage contracted security staff operations and enforce security contract standards, policies and procedures
- create and promote a positive and proactive work environment
- develop and implement short and long-range plans for personnel and guest safety, as well as asset protection
- implement safety protocols, including emergency preparedness plans, bomb threat plans and disaster response procedures, and train staff on responses
- assist with development and implementation of all evacuation ordinance requirements, including fire and life safety teams, emergency evacuation/fire drills, safety training for employees, emergency manuals, signage, etc
- oversee the management of all regulatory compliance with City, State, OSHA, Licensing and NFPA standards impacting the property’s operations
- manage, review and update all compliance mechanisms such as audits, inspections, reports and documentation
- establish and enforce protocols for property’s security operations and controls, property removal and after-hours facility access
- monitor and oversee security system integration, access control, life safety systems and radio communications
- respond to and provide assistance with reported medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, intrusion alarms or elevator entrapments, following established emergency response procedures
- respond to and manage any extenuating circumstances should they arise, including potentially aggressive protestors
- conduct internal investigations and prepare written reports and documentation on investigative findings and processes
- file police reports on behalf of building management
- review and report on all threats, risks, intel, investigations and any ongoing issues, providing recommendations for corrective action and/or mitigation strategies
- evaluate, recommend and implement programs that continually improve security service levels
- stay abreast of emerging trends and new developments within the security industry and implement where applicable
- network with law enforcement organizations (IACP, FBI, and local police departments) and security industry associations (ASIS)
- work collaboratively with external groups such as Federal, State and Local law enforcement and emergency services, as well as internally with management, ownership, facilities and legal departments
- monitor the quality of contracted security staff performance including the review of disciplinary actions, as well as ensuring a regular performance appraisal program is executed for all staff including security site supervisors, shift supervisors, assistant supervisors and security officers
- consult with and assist the security contractor on scheduling shift assignments
- supervise and ensure compliance of training programs for security officers and supervisors
- coordinate and work with security vendors to manage costs associated with security and safety technology
- provide management with quarterly reports and annual audits of the security program
- review shift reports, logs and work orders on a daily basis, responding appropriately and ensuring accuracy in logging procedures
- follow up with management on any security-related issues or concerns
- oversee employee, contractor and vendor building access and deliveries, addressing any situations that arise
- coordinate and direct private/special event security activities on site for management, DCASE and city
- adapt to changes and/or additions as needed to secure the physical property and meet service expectations of the owner, management and employees
