Job Description

CareOregon is a leading nonprofit health plan dedicated to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable populations in Oregon. With a strong commitment to quality healthcare, community engagement, and member satisfaction, CareOregon operates as a comprehensive healthcare organization focused on delivering value-based services to Medicaid members, seniors, and people with disabilities. Known for its innovation and dedication, CareOregon offers a supportive and collaborative work environment that emphasizes both employee development and community impact. The organization places high importance on diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure all employees and members feel respected and valued. CareOregon provides a competitive Total Rewards Program, which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, various wellness programs, and a comprehensive retirement plan with employer contributions.

The Security and Front Desk Customer Service Representative role at CareOregon plays a critical frontline function within the organization. This position is stationed onsite at the downtown office and operates on a schedule of four ten-hour weekday shifts from 7 am to 6 pm, including a one-hour lunch break, with one weekday off midweek. As the initial point of in-person contact, the representative provides first-line customer service and physical security, greeting and directing employees, members, contractors, and visitors. They conduct initial security screenings and assessments of people and objects entering the facility, ensuring safety while remaining courteous and professional.

This role requires a balanced combination of customer service expertise and security skills. The representative monitors safety and security systems such as CCTV and alarm systems, responds to incidents, manages access control, and performs basic first aid as needed. In emergency situations, the individual performs scene assessments, provides initial response, and escalates to law enforcement if necessary. Additional duties include supporting internal operations like employee parking garage administration, cross-departmental assistance with mail room and facilities, and participation in building evacuation drills.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of customer service experience and six months of physical security service experience, along with the necessary Oregon DPSST certifications and relevant first aid training. The role demands excellent communication, keen situational awareness, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team and a fast-paced environment. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to handle stressful or potentially volatile situations calmly and professionally while maintaining confidentiality and respect for all individuals.

Overall, this role is vital in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for all individuals interacting with CareOregon’s facilities. It offers a unique blend of service, safety, and operational support, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking a meaningful career in security and customer service within a mission-driven healthcare organization. The position also comes with a competitive salary range of $23.28 to $28.45 per hour plus a 5% annual bonus target, alongside a robust benefits package that supports employee well-being, financial security, and professional growth.
